Microsoft E3 Conference Review

Hello Gaming World! As you know, I am quite new to this site but trust me. Do not take me as a n00b. In this review I will be including the POSITIVE and the NEGATIVE of the Microsoft E3 Conference. So please enjoy and leave a comment below! Well it was June 14th and the first thing that came to my mind that morning was that it was time to watch the Microsoft E3 Media Briefing! I went to my fridge, grabbed a mountain dew, opened my laptop and went straight to GameSpot to watch the live stream (This was before I made my GameSpot account). Call of Duty: Black Ops was used as the opening for the briefing. Now, when i saw this it really did not make me get too excited for the conference but it did not get me to think that this was going to be a huge fail, so I was waiting to judge to see what was going to occur after the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. After the intro I saw the presenter so what snapped into my head was, "Well this is a good way to start off the briefing! With some gameplay of a highly anticipated game!" I was excited to see what was in store. What was next was the intense campaign demo of Black Ops. It really got me into the moment and made me want to buy the game INSTANTLY! The helicopter scene was simply outstanding and showed the variety of new featured that were not shown in previous Call of Duty games. Sadly soon after the godlike Black Ops gameplay... Don Mattrick arrived. BOOOOO! (sorry Xbox fanboys, I just do not like him in general) Don Mattrick did not talk in a... connecting voice. He voice sounded like the voice of a flight attendant telling you to buckle up. A GOOD thing he did announce was Project Natal's new name, Kinect. I will talk about this a little later. Now on to Metal Gear Solid: Rising! I didn't bother listening to Hideo Kojima I was just waiting for some gameplay or maybe a new trailer for Rising. And what happened after Kojima gave his little friend a high five while leaving the stage? The new gameplay trailer comes on! After seeing Raiden rip apart the robot in the beginning of the trailer, that was enough for me to judge that this game is going to be STRIKING! I love the cutting mechanism. Time slows down so you can make your decision on how to exterminate your enemy. Genius. After the trailer, Phil Spencer comes in to announce exclusives blah blah blah, then i heard the Gears theme. Cliff Bleszinski walks in explaining the demo. When the gameplay showed up on the big screen I was surprised on how the new Gears of War looked like. It looked like the old insane Gears of War action was thrown over the top because it was so... unexplainable! I like the addition of the female gears and the destructive actions of the Lampant enemies. The gameplay of Gears was outstanding and I look foward to buying the game. Fable III is next. The trailer that was revealed and it looks like alot of new things will be shown in the sequel to Fable II. After that was campaign of Halo: Reach gameplay. To me, it didn't really look that great... the cut scenes were good but there really wasn't that much gameplay shown except for the beginning battle and the elite assassination (which we already knew how to do in the beta version) Now its Kinect time! I love the idea of the Kinect but this is was made my Microsoft briefing experience PILLAGE! Ron was showing how you can operate the menu, I love it. Controller free, I don't have to scrounge around for my controller when I turn on my Xbox. I can just operate my system with my voice and my body. VideoKINECT is what made me loose hope. Maybe if the announcers weren't so freaking fake I would have enjoyed the presentation a little bit more. "My co-workers bought the last airbender just to boost there gamerscore!" Kristen said "Maybe you should do that!" Then she said, "Nah, My gamerscore is LEGIT!" Then I said, "Well my co-workers isn't." The fake speaking just pissed me off but wait, it gets worse. But in a good sense ESPN on XBOX 360! I love watching basketball games on my HD television so why not watch the games in the comfort of my couch in HD on my Xbox for free! How great is that? Simply wonderous. Then back to Kinect.... Rip-off, Rip-offff, RIP-OFF!!!! "Skittles!! Skittles!!!??!?!?! SKITTLES!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?" What is this? Kinectimals? How 'bout Nintendogs? Think about it, Nintendo did this in 2006 and just now Microsoft and Sony are just now doing this. I am disappointed in Microsoft for their unoriginality in game titles and gaming experiences. Kinectimals, a splicing of words between Kinect and Animals. Year announced: 2010. Nintendogs, samething. Year announced: 2005. Ridiculous. Then on to Kinect Sports. Really now? Okay I'm happy that they did not completely rip off the sports in Wii Sports. I like the track and field but the rest of the sports. You don't control the character, the character moves on its own. For example, from what I've seen on the soccer section, all you do is pass the ball. Thats it?! That is what pissed me off the most in Tennis on Wii Sports. And why Microsoft did you have to rip off the title as well? Kinect Sports = Wii Sports. You can't say that isn't ripped off. They could have easily titled it something else. Sports Kinects? That sounds good to me? Why not that? Joy Ride looks the same as Mario Kart and ExciteBots put together. Personally I like the Wii Wheel because it feels like I am steering a real wheel. On the other hand steering an invisible wheel for three laps are going to get my arms tired and when that happens... how do I pause it? Hmm. Kinect Adventures. You stand in one freaking spot moving like a maniac. I don't like. I do like the fitness game for the Kinect though! It has a martial arts lesson mode in it and you can see yourself on screen. Very interactive. Yes it looks like a clone of Wii Fit but this game has much more potential and reliability than the Wii Balance Board. Dance Central looks slightly fun but not exactly my style so I can't really critic it without being biased. The Star Wars Game. That game looks BADASS!! But it's going to get extremely boring. Standing in one place swinging your arm like a lightsaber (yes I know thats the point) and doing the force motion is going to get boring. If of course you do that for the whole game which you probably will. Now here comes Don MaPRICK. He announces the new Xbox 360 Slim. Complete with built-in wifi, 250 GB HDD, smaller, quiter and a way to buy good media. With out the announcement of the FREE Xbox Slim for everyone in the media briefing audience this conference would have been slightly disappointing. Verdict: Good: -Call of Duty: Black Ops -Metal Gear Solid: Rising -Gears of War 3 -Fable III -ESPN -Halo: Reach (campaign footage) -Xbox 360 Slim Bad: -Kinect -Fake Talking -Halo: Reach (boring campaign footage) -Rip-off Kinect Game titles. What saved it? -Free Xbox 360 Slim From what I've summarized in this review I have come to judge that if I were to grade the Microsoft E3 Conference I would give it Overall: C- Thank you for taking the time read my review and have fun gaming! Thanks A lot! :)
