Thoughts so far...

Hey everyone! No video blog this time. Just posting my thoughts so far on my new games. First off .hack//G.U.

*WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM .HACK//QUARANTINE*

After the events of the first .hack games. CC Corp, the company that runs The World, had a massive fire which destroyed almost all the data from the original game. Despite players continued requests to bring back the original The World, CC Corp decided to instead, fuse the old data with new data they had planned for another game, and created The World R:2. What this means is, the basic gameplay style is essentially the same. Go to the root towns and then use the chaos gates to travel from area to area but aside from that, the game is completely different. New character classes, new quest systems, new area missions, new dungeons, pretty much new everything. Even the towns are completely different from what you once new. Unfortunately the 3 person party limit is still there tho... This brings me to my first criticism of .hack//GU vol. 1. In the new version of The World, there are many more character classes. There are the8 different melee classes, Twin Blades (pretty much the same as the old Twin Blades. Much like Thief characters going for fast combos.), Blade Brandier (user of normal sized swords. Pretty balanced between speed and attack), Edge Punishers (use giant swords. Slow but has an area damage effect), Lord Partizan (spear users. Slow but very powerful), Tribal Grappler (hand to hand combat... weak but I guess it's kinda fast?),Flick Reapers (the coolestIMO, they use giant scythes and also have anareadamage effect), Macabre Dancers (they use these weird... fans? idk, they suck), and finally SteamGunners(they use guns. pretty self explanatory). Nextthere are the magic classes, Harvest Clerics are the healers and Shadow Warlocks are the damage dealers.

Now, since you can only have 3 people in your party, this limits a lot of the choices. Basically, there is no point at all in using a shadow warlock since you generally need 2 melee characters and a healer. As far as your second melee character goes, Twin Blades and Macabre Dancers are pointless as are Tribal Grapplers. The others are all fine choices. Maybe no so much the Steam Gunner if you are going to a high level place. Basically what this means is about half the characters you get throughout G.U. are completely pointless and will only hinder you in a fight. Your character, Haseo, is a rare character class called an Adept Rogue. They can use all weapon classes but aren't very good at any of them. They also tend to have only average to low HP so your going to need a tanker. Which really cuts your party choices down to 3 classes after getting a healer. Lord Partizan, Edge Punisher or a Flick Reaper. Blade Bradiers are alright but not ideal. Anyway, the original .hack was much better in that all the classes were pretty balanced. You never wanted to bring along a Twin Blade in the first game only because your character was a Twin Blade already.

I think i've blabbed enough about that for now. There are other criticisms i have but I realize that the time it takes to explain them is far too long. On to Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. First of all, scary as hell game. I'm almost halfway through and there were parts where i literally shouted in surprise (which at midnight with my parents upstairs, isn't a very good thing :P). Anyway, storyline is goodbut very disturbing on the part of the Ashford family. Also, the X version of CV has a lot of really cool cutscenes concerning Wesker which go a long way in describing how he got to where he is (basically how he survived the mansion). The only one I've seen so far is where he beats up on Claire (gasp! Didn't his mother ever teach him not to beat up girls!) and says how he hates Chris Redfield. Makes you think about Resident Evil5 and how far Wesker will go to make sure he dies :D. Anyway, so far, it's a great Resident Evil game and, if you've been reading the comments from my last blogs about RE:CVx, all the stuff about the music is true! Save room music is awesome and almost heals you as a player from the horror of the game. It's the biggest feeling of relief ever during a video game to hear that music. Then the heartbeat stuff when you open the door to an important room, just scares the crap out of u lol. Very cool stuff. Sorry about the uber long blog lol. I'm really excited about the games! I haven't really played enough of Zero to have any thoughts on it yet but i'll get there lol! A friend of mine is really excited to play Zero so i'm kind of waiting for him. Peace!
