Top 10 Video Games of All Time Part 1

First off, just wanted to say that heroes last night was pretty cool. Not the best season finale ever but i still liked it. I figure tho, i'm at the point where anything Heroes related and i'm instantly enthralled. Anyway, on to my Top 10 list! but only 10-6... sorry. I have other things i need to do. Besides, this way, you'll have something to look forward to when i get back!

10. Pong (HP)

Pong Picture

Yeah, I picked pong as my number 10 game. Not so much because it's a good game but because it's the most influential video game of all time, without a doubt. Mainly because it was the first. Basically, if you haven't played Pong before (where the heck have you been???), you control one of the two lines and move it up and down, hitting the little dot back and forth. The numbers at the top show your score. Game ends when you hit 11. Good job. Oh yeah, can't forget the annoying little beeping sound effects every time the dot hits a paddle. So yeah, it's not a great game. In fact, it's downright boring. But it was the first and without it, there would be no video games so of course it's in my top 10!

9. Skies of Arcadia (DC) - 2000

 Skies of Arcadia

Skies of Arcadia, one of the two best RPG's released for the late and great Sega Dreamcast. If you were a Sega fan during their glory days, you remember the battle between the two "epic" RPG's coming out at the time, Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2. Skies of Arcadia, known as Eternal Arcadia in Japan, was the newbie and therefore, expected to lose the battle against the sequel to Grandia, a highly rated RPG for the Playstation. However, in the end, it put up a pretty even fight and actually did win on various game sites (including Gamespot). The graphics far surpassed anything Grandia 2 put up with great anime character models and beautiful environments with fully animated cutscenes that were some of the best ever seen at the time. Throw in an incredible storyline and some great RPG gameplay with a few new features added, and you get one of the best RPG's not only for the Dreamcast, but one of the best ever made. Read my review here if you want a more detailed explanation.

8. Kingdom Hearts (PS2) - 2002

Kingdom Hearts

Sorry KH fans, it's not number 1 on this list. Although that does not, by any means, say that it's not an incredible game. When this was first released, it received high skepticism from gamers. The child of Disney and Square Enix??? Usually, however, the name Square Enix forced RPG fan's into buying it. And they were the ones that truly saw how great it was. Personally, I was one of the skeptics at first. I actually vowed, after seeing a commercial for it, that I would never buy the game. I've stuck with my vow to this day. However, i said nothing about borrowing it. After one of my best friends played it, he all but forced me to play through it too. I was instantly in RPG heaven. The storyline is actually really good, despite it being a disney game. Really, the only thing Disney did for this game was throw in a bunch of their characters and worlds. Square Enix took the best known Disney movies and turned them into something amazing. The story of Sora, Riku, and Kairi still captivate people and everyone is desperate for Square Enix to get with it and give us some info on 3!!! Anyway, if you like a good storyline, this is a must buy. Also, it's a real time fighting system so action game fans can get into it too!

7. Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2) - 2006

Kingdom Hearts 2

The sequel is in fact even better than the original! It takes place a year after Chain of Memories, which took place immediately after the first game, and delves much more into the storyline and gives us answers we've all been begging for for the four long years we waited.  With the addition of plenty more disney worlds, a completely redone gummi ship battle system (thank god...) and the new reaction commands, theres tons more to love about number 2. While it is unfortunately necessary to play Chain of Memories, it's worth it just to be able to understand this absolutely spectacular game. Must buy for everyone. period. If you want to know more about either game, check out my reviews.

and the last one for this post...

6. Halo 2 (Xbox) - 2001

Halo 2

ahhh... Halo 2. The sci-fi FPS that continues the amazing story started in the first Halo for the Xbox. Unfortunately, Halo 2 had flaws that lowered it from it's predecessor. The weapons were far too unbalanced (which OT i hear has been fixed in Halo 3 from a friend who's beta testing it.) which made the multiplayer far worse than the original. Despite a lot of people hating the single player story however, i actually loved the whole thing and can't wait to see how it ends. Overall, i think the single player balances out the flaws that the multiplayer has and make it overall a great game. Definitely in the top 10.

So, theres my 10-6 list for ya. Just a reminder, i'm gonna be gone tomorrow and thursday all day so i'll finish the list on Friday after skool. One of my roommates for the trip is maybe gonna bring his Halo 3 beta so i might get to play it!!! I'm hopin for it lol! As far as my list goes, you might be able to see the trend, if not, i'll tell you in my next post and you'll understand my choices. Peace everyone! (BTW, Because i'm gone tomorrow, i don't get to see the Lost finale so DON'T PM ME OR COMMENT ME ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS!!! I'll read all your blogs about it when i get back and you'll know when i see it cuz i'll post right after.)
