So last Friday before dinner I did my usual thing. Which consists of booting up the PS3 and seeing what' s new in the PSN store.
The big news this past week is of course Qore. Now obviously I wasn't surprised when I saw it there for download. I'd been doing a fair amount of reading though the week trying to decide whether or not to buy one episode, (issue? What are these things called anyway?), or just buy the subscription for the whole year.
Short story is I bought the subscription. After carefully weighing the pros and cons, I came to the conclusion that it was worth the money so I didn't have to have this discussion with myself every month.
Basically I'm pretty impressed with it. A fair amount of good content, and it was pretty polished overall.
The one thing I did have to question was, where was this when the PS3 launched? (and where the hell is Home?)
On the PS blog, and elsewhere there's a fair amount of complaining about how this content should be free anyway, and why should we have to pay for it?
Mostly I think that's a load of crap. Odds are most of it will be available free eventually anyway. Really I just look at the $24.99 sub as the same as the subscription for this place. This place is actually $39.95 a year. Fileplanet is also $39.99. In the interest of disclosure I do have a paid fileplanet account, but not a gamespot account.
Anyway I think $25 for a neatly layed package with a host and access to beta games and extra content is well worth the money. I'm already looking forward to next month's issuesode.
