And the IT God brought forth the Holy Trinity of PC health and they were:

AVG Antivirus, Adaware and the mighty Spybot Search and Destroy.  All looked on these and were happy for they worked and were free.

"But Lord we keep being hit with Trojans so all we do is run the holy trinity and can never game"  The IT God heard their cries and his heart was full of pain for they could not even play Solitare.  To end their suffering he then delivered the Sacred Shield of protection, Zone Alarm Firewall.  All looked on this and were happy for it too worked and was also free.

"But Lord," they cried "we cannot get rid of some files and they are still causing us much pain!"  The IT Lord again heard their cries and reminded them of the passage of Holy Scripture that says "Always ensure that thou turnest off System Restore before removing malware lest it be brought back by Windows" and they did this and all was well.

"But Lord," they cried "how dost one get off the beach in Company of Heroes?"  and the Lord replied "Oh go look at Gamespot and work it out for thyselves" and he went back to fragging n00bs

Fallout, the Baldurs Gate Series are worth a look at even though there old.   Also if you haven't seen it Planescape: Torment is absolutely brilliant and a must have in your collection if your a CRPG fan IMO

I've got Dune 1, 2 & 2000 in my collection.

Dune is excellent especially the planet view that turns green as you plant more and more trees and the wierd eye animations!  I left of Dune 2000 as it is basically the same game as Dune 2 just spruced up a bit.

Shogun was awesome I'm still trying to catch up on the lost sleep from that game.  Medieval was a disappointment, I felt I spent far too much time mucking around with trying to get my princesses married.

Rome is/was fantastic (except for Alexander IMO) and made up for Medieval but some how TWM2 just doesn't quite hit the mark, sure the battles are great and pretty and the diplomacy is a little easier but the economy seems broken.  It has to be the hardest of them all to actually get enough cash to wage war which when the title is Total War, is a little odd.

Mind you that hasn't stopped me from swatting the scots, or punishing the portugese.

If you have a desktop short cut right click on that select the "Compatibility" tab and put a tick in "Run this program in compatibilty mode for: " then select Windows '98 or ME but '98 should work.  You may also need to put ticks in the boxes for running in 256 colour mode etc.  In extreme cases I find that installing under comptibility mode also helps.

Mind you I found that the best solution was to have a dual boot system with '98 installed on a second partition.

I think I saw it once in there TIE Fighter, but no one mentioned X-Wing.

Then there was the grand daddy of all RTS Dune 2.  Not too forget Civ, Civ 2, Pirates, Police Quest (all of them), Strike Commander, Wing Commander (all of them), 688 Attack Sub, Battletech (both 1&2), Privateer, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Sam & Max, Blade Runner, MOO, MOM

So many memories ..... great thread.

I've got both only because I bought the '06 sports bundle and while it's nice to have '06 the only reason I play it is to play the historical game aspect.  So if you're a Tiger nut then knock yourself out but it really is the same game.  In fact I've got '05 and I'm still not sure why I bought '07 they are that similar.

Fuinny you should ask, i saw this game when it first came out and liked but I never got around to buying it and thought that I'd missed my chance.  Luckily I found it last week at my local EB for a price that meant that even if it suced it wouldn't be that bad.

As it turns out it's a lot of fun and I wish I 'd bough it when it first came out.
