first off, i'm sorry if my rant about a somewhat useless and non-enlightening hardware guide started all this - though i hope it didn't... now, here's something all can laugh about. and i do mean ALL of you, even those claiming to "run a pretty old PC" my current pc-setup: amd athlon(tm) processor, 1.40 Ghz(no, not a 2800+ type, the prior model) some asus motherboard from the same era(what, 4-6 years ago?) 768 mb pc2100 ddr(?) ram(been so long since i checked, i can't even remember) creative radeon 9600 had a minor hdd malfunction the other day, so i'm now down to an 80G WD caviar ide(possibly eide) at 7200 rpm(not that this makes any difference for wow) here's the thing, as long as i do my part and stop downloads or other bandwith busters, the game runs just fine in most areas oh, btw - i'm on a 19" lcd, with max res at a whopping 1200X1086 (up from a 15", so i'm happy :D) have fun playing whatever you play oh, lolgubbe: please contact me in your own language - i suspect we either share native language or possibly live in neigbor( never quite sure how that word's spelled - sorry if i've gotten it wrong though) countries... for the next months i'll be buying parts though, got to get a system that's a bit more up to date ;)

i'm sorry for ranting a bit here, but this hardware "guide" really got to me. i hope those of you(which i suspect is most of you) who already know this will forgive me - if this can help even one of the players of WoW, i'm happy... i'm running this on an athlon 1,4, creative radeon 9600 256mb, 768mb ram system - game-partition's about 20g, total free space at any given time between 750mb and 1g. resolution only 1280x768 (monitor restrictions) and all in-game graphics maxed - still runs smooth, only lags in major cities(like in front of the bank in orgrimmar). and as for this being a hardware guide? are you serious? first off: you do not say anything about the combination of hardware, only list what hardware you've "tested" it on. second: if you're at all going to do a serious test of this game on any hardware, how about starting with the minimun system requirements as specified on the game cover? something like a p3 or athlon 800, 512 mb ram, 32mb graphics card, a 4x cd-rom and a hdd with enough free space, instead of testing on hardware that's still twice as good as the cheasiest hardware still available in factory wrapping? i'm sorry, but this is not a hardware guide, not even remotely - heck, compared to this, even an ordinary electrics outlet store's a better guide... those of you worried that your computer's not up to the job: if the game lags, shut down memory and/or bandwith-using software like IM's (windows live, yahoo, skype etc) while you're playing, usually helps. same goes for downloading stuff, whatever you're using. if you need to talk during play, use software like Ventrillo, that's designed to use a minimal amount of memory & cpu-power. got a cpu below 1Ghz? well, i would consider upgrading anyway, but not for this game... there are other things you can do that could prove just as effective - getting a graphics card(older model ofc) with 128mb+ ram for instance, or just getting another 512mb ram... new to computers or inexperienced with them? feel free to ask me - though i'm sure there's alot of other users of GS that's more capable than me here, i'll try my best to answer whatever question you throw my way - as long as it's about computers (i honestly have to say i've never touched a Mac, so i would probably not be the right person in that respect) everyone else: keep playing, keep having fun and keep ignoring useless guides like this one ;p
