all ps3 games are region free, you can buy it from japan and it should work. the only thing that wont work is blu ray movies.

so any game from the us WILL work in the eu and thats a fact. 6 of the games i own have been imported from the us

d_ano

Oh good to know. I figured the games would fall under the same codes as the movies. Weird. My oblivion has a 1 on the back but Folk's SOul has a 2 (funny thing is, Folk's SOul has a sticker on the back that says "for Japan only". clearly this was their intent.). I guess those are the regions of the games but not enforced or whatever.

I am in Canada so anyone in EU with an EU unit and Japanese/US games will be the expert here!

Ok im getting a ps3.Right now im just wondering which is better. All of the 60gb are gone were I live so I cant get that. I have a ps2 so I don't need BC.starwarrior2

I would get the 40gb. 40gb isnt much but neither is 80. Card reader is useless. Both have wifi. 40gb is cheaper too.

The yellow dots are other folders; and not just the ps3 folders.

anyone please?mustaf_nur89

This will answer your question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc#Region_codes

If you have a European PS3, then buying the American UT3 will do nothing for you.

Only PS3 games are region free. PS1 and PS2 games can only be played on a PS3 from the same region.CellAnimation

PS3 games are not region free. They are Blu-Ray discs with either of region A, B or C. Region A is Japan AND North America.

PS1 and PS2 use region codes for CD and DVD, respectively.

Thankfully, my previous two playstations (1 and 2) were both Japanese and so having a Japanese PS3 is perfect if I want to play any of my old games or NHL 08 :D

[QUOTE="rcsnow"]My PS3 connects wirelessly to my Linksys WRT54GS router. I type in my WEP key for the security settings, and the rest of the settings are automatic. My PS3 is able to obtain and IP and connect to the Internet, but it cannot connect to the PS3 Network.

Please help me solve this problem.

Thank you.Kevbodian

Most likely your router has NAT firewall on and UPnP disabled. Try going into the router and turning ON UPnP (or go to portforward.com and set up port forwarding/triggering for the PSN ports).

As for security; it's up to you, really. Most people don't try that hard to steal wireless. If they can't see your network or don't know what its called you don't have to worry about it so much. I live in a house so security is less of a concern. In my case, I disable SSID broadcast so you you manually type in the network name in XP or Ps3's wifi settings and it will connect without issue and people who check for wifi won't see your network unless they run linux or really try.

Oh, and never use the CD rom a router comes with. A router has no business putting software on any computer!!

Alright I have two quick questions. First Is there a way to change the color of my font on my PS3 because some backgrounds are too white for me to see text. Second when hooking a PS3 to your comp for sharing of files, what has to be done on the PC to allow for transfer. Thanks.Full-Throttle

In display settings you can change your wallpaper to whatever you want (import pics from a USB drive).

Don't bother hooking it directly to computer. Use a USB flash drive to transfer data.

its strange that most of the faults and problems that the ps3 gets are coming from the 40gb....i think the 60gb was the best model and they shouldnt have gotten rid of it

d_ano

Well, 60gb isn't really enough; 80gb is nicer. However, SOny is trying to cut costs so the newer 80gb and 40gb may not be made with the same parts as the 60 and 20. They don't have the emotion engine... nuff said.
