EDIT: I'm aware of the problem of background electronic noise in PC's, and I've also encountered that previously but as a white background noise, not a crackling sound.
I think there's a problem with my soundcard. I just received these wonderful Sennheiser PC 360 headphones, but when I jack them into my soundcard, there's some tiny cracks in the sound and it is as if there's more sound coming out of the right channel than the left. And I can't hear anything wrong when they're jacked into my mobo.
I also recently had a problem with it (other headphones though) where it would make a lot of white noise when there was a mic plugged into it. It all disappeared when I moved the mic to the mobo's mic output.
The soundcard IS 3 years old, so could this be the last breath from it?
Guys, what kind of experience do you have with PC headsets? I already have some Logilol stand microphone (which suckz) but I'm looking for something to wear on me head, but something that would still make it possible for me to enjoy the surround from my surround sound system. What would be ideal was a one-ear thingy with a decent mic that would transfer incoming voices to the headset, not the surround (if that's even possible).
But overkill's good! If you want a machine where you can open up any game and put everything to "MAX", without even bothering checking if you can squeeze a few more FPS out of it by lowering your settings here and there, then go for the 5970. If you can find one that is..
Hopefully not. Battlefield Heroes is a fun game, but the fact you have to pay to do anything interesting is just a bad idea in my book, even though it turned out to be a great succes for EA. I might have used money on the game if they released it for a small price and everything was included.
