From the article posted herefrom Gamespot's main page, it seems that all accounts on PSN were affected. My question is, even though this information was stolen, does it still remain true that CC information was encrypted, and Personal Information was"stored in a hashed form and not plain text,"quoted here, another article from gamespot on may 2nd?

If these two protocols hold, then it would seem that most information stolen would be a lot less useful to the people who stole it, that is until they spend enough of their time trying to crack the data.

Can anyone here weigh in on this?

Cheers

thank you all for your advice. i'm thinking about replacing/upgrading my motherboard, however the only thing putting me off about the endeavor is the software side of the upgrade.

i've done some research and have found that upgrading a motherboard is quite a lengthy process in regards to maintaining the integrity of a windows operating system. has anyone here replaced/upgraded their motherboard? and if so, how easy was it for you to get the whole thing done? did you have to reinstall windows or repair your installation?

hi, i have a customized pc which i build myself.

Processor :Intel Q6600 Quad Core 2.4 GHZ

Motherboard: Asus P5B

GPU: 256MB ATI Radeon 2600XT

Sound: Soundmax Onboard Sound

PSU: Hiper 580W Modular

HD's: 1x 80GB: 1x 250GB

my main worries with my pc is the amount of time left for my P5B to become obsolete (also i hear motherboard replacement/upgrade is a tricky process).

i am aware my GPU leaves quite a bit to be desired in the power department which is why i intend to upgrade it soon.

my goal is to have a medium-high performance gaming machine. any advice is greatly appreciated.
