Killian68 Blog

It's been awhile...an update since 2006?!?!

Wow, I really don't login much to GS but I do come here everyday to catch up on gaming news.

My last blog post was November 2006...geez, much has changed in that time. In those 6 years I've gotten not just the Nintendo Wii, but also the XBox 360 and the Star Wars edition XBox360 with Kinect, PS3 (upgraded the HD to 320G myself), PSP, NDSLite, iPhone 2G, iPhone 4 & 4s, iPad 1 & 2 and most currently a PS Vita for my gaming pleasure. The iPad has changed mobile gaming with it's casual fun games you can play with your friends on one screen or across the Net. Of course for hardcore mobile gaming, nothing beats a PSP, NDS or PS Vita. Phones just don't have the right controls for some games I enjoy but at least they are available for mobile phone users and they are quite capable games still. With the late fall/Xmas releases coming, I'm contemplating what games to get next. I'm actually backlogged with some games I haven't even touched in the past 2 years due to work, so I can just fall back on those games until this year's games get cheaper or they get bundled with their DLCs as GOTY editions. Hopefully work, tv watching and trying to game will balance out for me from this month onwards. Never know though as things at work is always in flux and big changes and priority projects can pop up any time as I've learned over the years at my employ.

Wish myself luck to have time and energy to get back into gaming this year and 2013.

Wii or P...PS3 that is

Like Cartman, I'm getting impatient counting down to the launch of the Nintendo Wii. Luckily I don't wanna get frozen like Cartman nor Buck Rogers so I'll just have to tap my fingers until then. Unfortunately, knowing all the launch dates for US, Japan, Europe and Australia doesn't help much as my locale still doesn't get support from Nintendo, even though I'm in one of their large customer targets in Asia...Hong Kong to be exact. Where's a freaking launch date?!? Nintendo really doesn't want to compete with the grey market sellers or something?! Come on! Even Sony and their PS3 have a pre-order out and it's cheaper than the US or the rest of the world especially for the high-end package. Only thing is that HK probably won't see that package until March'07 I hear. But it's cheap! For the same US cost of $600 for one PS3, I can pre-order and get the 60G PS3 plus an extra game - maybe two in the pre-order package. Too bad I don't have an HDTV set...geez, only 1080p panels are just starting to be sold here, then again we don't have any programming yet until sometime 2007. Yep, getting close to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games - that's just what they're waiting for in China.

Anyways, now I know Sony is selling the PS3 - the 20G version is out in mid-Dec for us - but what I really want to know is when the Nintendo Wii is out. I'm frustrated just following the other countries' launch dates. Yeah, so I can get a grey market Japanese or US model...big wow if I'm stuck to a dopey Virtual Console game that isn't compatible with others I'll be playing with. Also, I'm not interested in paying a premium price gouge for the grey market sellers when it first launches. But if Nintendo doesn't announce soon for an HK model release of the Wii, looks like the US model is the only choice for me this christmas. Sigh.

*tapping foot now and still waiting*

My first real blog

Oh boy, this is my first real blog on the net. What's interesting is it is on a gaming site that I don't usually log onto. Is that a good or bad sign? :D

Anyways, since this is a gaming site that I visit quite regularly for gaming news & reviews, let's start off with some of the systems I own. I have 2 PC's both with 3.0G Pentium 4s/1G Ram/various HD's - one for video editing, the other for gaming. Consoles I own are Playstation (mod), Playstation 2, Playstation Two (thin one), 2 XBoxs (Black modded/Green original) and a PSP. Oh, I shouldn't forget that 3DO unit as well. Currently playing around with a 1st generation flat-panel iMac, that cute dome computer and also a stealth upgraded Mac Mini. Yeah, I'm into Macs as my first Mac was my ancient 9600 that I still have lying around. I've owned other ancient consoles that are not where I currently reside now such as a PC Engine w/ CD unit, PC Engine portable, NES and even an Atari 2600 (with broken joysticks of course).

Well, that's alot of various systems but heck, there were alot of different electronics companies trying to sell you the next best gaming machine that you could play at home rather than in the arcade. Ok, now I just want to head home to play a game...which machine though?
