So lateley I've been doing alot of retro gaming, because I realized how many awesome games there is that I have not played or that I want to play again.

First up, for the Wii I spend my time on the virtual console(mainly, because I cant afford playing games at full retail yet, I rather get them used or wait for a price drop) and I have so far downloaded:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Its a game that really hasnt aged well, I deleted it, Im not that hardcore of Zelda.

  • Super Mario Bros: Dude, this game, Its just so much fun(and can be very challenging), its retro but its still alot of fun to the day, even after the godly SMB3, this game still holds up well to the date

  • Bonk Adventure: Ive always heard alot of bonk adventure but trust me, this game hasnt been aged that well and at the side of Sonic and Mario this game just looks plain out bad, I deleted it.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog: The thing about Sonic is that its a plataformer like mario just much more fast paced, but comparing this game to the Advance iterations I just noticed the difference, the old Sonic wasnt just random running, it wasnt just about pushing the left key and jump, it was much slower paced than the newest games, you could play it safely and not rush, which I enjoy more, SA just doesnt feel that well.

  • Military Madness: I heard so much hype when this game was released, like, if you wanted more of Advance Wars, this is for you, dude, after playing Advance Wars I cant play this game, I deleted this too.

  • Gunstar Heroes: I have never heard of this game before and its a really enjoyable game, its alot of fun, just really short.

  • Castlevania 4: To be honest I didnt knew this wasnt like Circle of the Moon(the only Castlevania I finished) but its still really enjoyable, particularly because its so challenging but addictive.
And I recently downloaded A Link to the Past and Super Mario 64 so that should keep me busy for sometime(that and Castlevania 4 which I still cant finish, damn). One complaint I do have tho is the fact that there is no single RPG on the virtual console, and those are generally the ones that keep you busy for alot of time.

Now to computer games, I realized sometime ago that I didnt knew much about RPG's, they have never been my thing, perhaps because I havent played many, I mean, the only RPG I have ever completed was Pokemon Blue.

So I asked for a little advise and got trully gems when it comes to RPG, First I played a little bit of Planescape and Diablo II, I was particularly intrigued about Planescape, It looks really fascinanting but I dont have a full copy of the game. When it comes to Diablo II, it was interesting, a little bit repetitive, but ultimateley I decided to skip it and get Diablo 1 first.

But then I got The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, my god, I honestly didnt knew what to expect but that game blew my expectations away, after you get past the flawed combat which is something I can totally live with(just think about it as turn based combat), but its just, there is so much to stuff to do, and the thing about it is... You really want to do it, you want to advance in your guilds to get the recoignitions, skills and items. That on one hand and on the other, I noticed you can play this game as a dungeon crawler, just get in there and finish the dungeons, explore them, they are very interesting and varied. You are never really bored in the game and you can always find something to do, it blew away my expectations, Ive been really enjoying it.

I have also got Civ4 and Thief and tried to find System Shock 2 but no luck. Civ4 is great but its frustrating, because I have a really crappy comp and even at the worst settings it runs into problems when the world is too crowded so its kinda frustrating, and at this conditions, I dont wanna return to the game, perhaps I will get an older Civ, Dont know which tho.

Thief, i know its awesome for the time it was released, it just... doesnt feel like it has aged well, particularely when one has played stealth games like MGS3.

Well so thats what I have been playing lately, alot of retro stuff.

Now, I really dont know what to do, I am thinking, get a DS Lite which are really cheap, get an Xbox 360 or get a DX10, 8800 GTX computer when I go to NA in september.

Either option is great, I mean the DS games are alot of fun, the DS lite is such a great platforms. The 360 has amazing games, the biggest game which draws me to the system is deffiniteley Mass Effect, that games looks simply stuning, the rest of the games are incredible too. And PC, jesus, the best graphics, the best games, its just incredible, everytime I watch videos of Crysis that games just blows me away, I guess I still have sometime to decide, and there is quite alot games for the Wii I will buy this year, Damn, its sweet to be a gamer, but not like me, since I have like no money or no job, we shall see. PS3... the only real title which draw me to the system is obviously MGS4, there is no other game in the system which wont make me feel bad for not playing, perhaps FF XIII just because the trailer looks amazing but I have never completed a FF game before, and when you have ME, FFXIII doesnt look that great.

and here is Mass Effect villain:

If this comes to PC, then my desition is set.

Expanding gaming, Wthat does it mean?

Hey everyone, my first blog post in here, actualy, it would be the second, I had made a huge post a few days ago and then it got deleted while I was about to finish, man was that not frustrating, anyways, I will make my Wii overall review and analysis of its present and future in a while, but meanwhile, here are some toughts I wanted to share.

We have all heard Nintendo going strong with the whole "games for non-gamers", "expanding the industry", "even your mom can play" things.... But why? I mean, surely they could be up to that, but why is the industry, that means the developers, the publishers, etc, interested in such a thing, and even a more important question, why do gamers, like us care about that?

Well if you were asking yourself that question, then I understeand, I made myself that question plenty times in the past and I think I have finally found an answer; Market expansion and the broadening of gaming only equals a bigger industry, and a better industry, which ultimateley results in more growth, better games, more users, better software and better hardware.

How? We all saw what Sony did with the PlayStation, they made the exact same thing that Nintendo is doing right now, only on a smaller scale, they brought gaming to a bigger market, to the masses, now it wasnt just kids and teenagers, ,we had a more mature market, and every year, more gamers and more kind of gamers are brought into gaming.

Now allow me to explain what the Wii is trying to do; making gaming standard, to this point, gaming is still seen by some as a passtime, as something bad for kids, as something that is unhealty and something that just wastes your time. But if the Wii is sucessfull, as its alredy proven to be, then that means that more moms, more grandmoms, more grandpas are going to begin to understeand gaming, accept it, make it more socially acceptable, if non-gamers are brought in, then that means that the society will make another step towards accepting gaming, and that is important, if gaming is a more fundamental part of our society, where the NES and the PS1 helped, then that means that our industry is going to evolve, and gaming is gonna take a more important role.

Anyone who has a Wii has tried it on their parents, their friends, and like most of you, the results are incredible, my father who never touched a videogame......Yeah Im gonna skip that because we have all heard that a million times, but its not some fanboys ranting, its the truth, the Wii expands gaming, and thats something we all want.

Of course, I understeand the concern of not wanting to share and that if we have all this inclusive games, then Nintendo will forget about the hardcore gamers, I dont think thats really a financial problem for Nintendo, since the hardcore market is so small, but if ur one of those, should you be worried? No.

By expanding the market, that doesnt mean forgetting about the casuals, Zelda proves it, it has a huge attach rate, only smaller than Wii Sports(and Wii Play in Japan), and Nintendo isnt gonna stop pushing the Zelda's, The Mario's and I even think they are going for more than just that with projects like H.A.M.M.E.R and Disaster. Day of Crisis

Anyways, I am looking forward for your input in the comments!
