I can't think of any games that I'll play 10 years from now on 4k display since they'll look like crap. But games from last gen I still play on my HDTV is Final Fantasy XII which is still the most awesome looking game on PS2 to date. While games this gen look better, they rely too much on graphics, which will be outdated next gen anyway. And awesome games like SMG2, is only in SD despite HD generation consoles being here since 2005. :(

Well, it's true that there are more western developers than ever before. Still, a lot of games published are also from Japanese publishers like Square Enix, Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai. They just happened to own a lot of western studios. Batman Arkham series and Tomb Raider are now released by Square Enix, you know, just that all development are from western studios. Also, there's a lot of Japanese employees in western studios too, Guerilla Studio who made Killzone franchise in Holland for example.

Thank mates! I forgot that Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 was the best looking anime game when it was released last year. Still, I think I should give up on making anime in 3D if they're optimize for 2D. Most anime have big eyes, very little nose, wide mouth, which are impossible to 3D realm anyway. :(

DO you know which games have the best 3D anime models, not mediocre like Disgaea or most games in 3D?

I think Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata and Atelier Totori look nice, but not enough to me imo.

That's why I prefer 2D characters in cut-scenes over the ones we're using while playing.

Well, I think MGS1 doesn't date as bad as FF VII and FF VIII. But yeah, MGS2 and MGS3 just look much better, they still look like crap on my HDTV though. Old dungeon crawler games are the worst. The early D&D genre doesn't have very good level design and the dungeon is such a maze.

Well, I think that most 3D games on PS1 era look horrible since the polygon count is very low. Tekken 3 is the exception since I think it's the most visually impressive game that I have a hard time believe it's from PS1. But the first Tekken and Tekken 2 look like crap now and can't be compared to the superior Tekken 3. A lot of games that look good on PS2 then now look like crap too. The transition from SDTV to HDTV plays the biggest role here. Still, there's a few games that look so stunning even when compared to this gen, like Final Fantasy XII, God of War I&II, Devil May Cry 3 (the first DMC looks unplayable to me, the 2nd doesn't do better either, I'm waiting for DMC HD Collection because while DMC3 looks great, DMC and DMC2 look like garbage on my HDTV), Jak & Daxter, Rachet & Clank, Gran Turismo 4, Tekken 5, Twilight Princess and Valkyria Profile 2. Well, most of them need component cable and progressive scan to be able to display on HDTV better though.

That's easy for me, if a great game doesn't have framerate problems/clunky controls, then it's ageless. I can play any game, if the said game is great for me, but that wont neccesarily hold true for all people, because aged mechanics hindering enjoyment is entirely subjective.

Like your example of the first Half Life. For you, it might have aged bad, but for me that statement is a mind rape because i just can't comprehend what could have possibly aged in that game to prevent enjoyment. The AI is better than in most games released today, the framerate is fluid without any inconsistency, the controls as solid (m/kb), there's a variety of well designed weapons with great gunplay, the environments are great aswell.. And so on.

Lucianu
Well, Half-Life is unplayable to me after I play Half-Life Source, which is the improved version made on Source Engine. I think that's my case with Half-Life is very subjective though.

Warcraft 3 all the way. It's close to perfect and the graphics still looks good to this day with their smart choice of art st*le. The recent Zelda as the best game of all time? Miyamoto, the creator of the game actually said he was dissatisfied with the game. Ocarina of Time should be the one being nominated instead. LBP2, my favorite game too, but the control is nowhere near perfect. It fails as a proper 3D platformer, more of user creation.

I want a new console that have all games in native 1080p. Stereoscopic 3D is a bonus. I want all games to support at least 5.1 ch surround sound up to 7.1 ch surround sound. I wish they'll release them in 2012 or 2013.
