I don't fully understand the concept of street pass. Care to explain?

Well basically when your 3DS finds other 3DSs in the surrounding area, they'll exchange information such as Miis for your Mii parade, what games they play etc. Nothing big really. Some games may actually make use of it though. Super Street Fighter IV has a trophy battling mode where your customised trophy battles trophies of passers-by through StreetPass. When you later open up your 3DS, you'll see who your 3DS has battled and whether you won or lost.

not only that, but if it finds password-less wifi spots, it'll connect to the internet and download fancy free things you've allowed it to download, like demos, updates and stuff like that. also, leaving the 3DS on allows you to earn coins through the pedometer. and for those worrying about the battery, it probably spends as much as leaving your DS on sleep mode. my DS survived a week on sleep mode and when i opened it again, it had barely lost battery. remember, while on streetpass, the screens won't be working, so the energy required goes drastically down.

Thank you to both of you for explaining it to me. I suppose I'd use it but what do the coins actually do?

I don't see why it wouldn't though I do expect the accuracy of device to go down the faster you go. It is kind of like the pokewalker in my opinion. You could run with it but it didn't pick up every step. The difference isn't that bad in my opinion but I am willing to bet there will be some inaccuracy. But, I don't see why it shouldn't include running if it's made for the purpose of getting people in shape, though I don't know how comfortable it'd be to run with something that clunky in your pocket.

Well that's a relief. I was worried that the battery life that was quoted as 3-5 hours was going to be horrible. I do a good amount of traveling and if I'm going to pay $250 for something I want it to last more than 5 hours of my 20 something hour trips. Of course I haven't done my research on the device to know too much more.

I think it'll do well. Nintendo seems like it's working toward both the casual crowd and the hardcore crowd. It is also playing on the nostalgia bit, which is a classic Nintendo move, by pulling at some of their classic N64 games. I'm not a big fan for the Nintendo consoles but they have never lead me wrong when it comes to handheld devices. The two things I have fears about is the battery life and the propensity of Nintendo to release a second iteration of this device. Most of Nintendo's handheld devices always seem to have two or three different iterations released and I want to make sure I get one that isn't dwarfed by the "next generation" of 3DSes that I think will be coming out about a year after this device is released.

It's a good idea now if Nintendo were really smart they'd allow you to play your music while playing the game. I'd really appreciate that option.

I'm not playing it because I'm in Pakistan and I have yet to find a retailer that carries legitimate games. Most retailers carry pirated crap and since I'm not into the pirating and modding scene I can't nor do I want to play these games. Maybe I can convince my family to buy and Fedex me a copy.

This "trick" that you are referring to is simply a clipping issue. It happens all the time in combat and not just for you but it can happen to you. For the most part if you are fighting an enemy and one of you is using a rifle and the other is using a melee weapon or their fists and they run up to you, often times the rifle's barrel will pass right through the other's body and the shots will be fire right past them. If you want you can try to find some Raiders with knives or lead pipes and pull out an assault rifle or a hunting rifle and let them run right up to you. When they do step forward and try to fire. You'll probably find that most times that you fire your shots will go right through them and their health will be unaffected. Consider this confirmed.
