Just because Sony said that the ps3 will have a 10 year life cycle doesn't mean it will be a full 10 years before the next console comes out. Look at the ps1 and ps2, the ps1 had a 10 year life cycle even though the ps2 came out before it ended. The ps2 is in its 8th or 9th year and the ps3 already came out. At this point, Sony will most likely try to get their new console out before any other company to get the upper hand of next generation.
