For the past few months I have had an ongoing computer problem. My computer will lock up whether Im playing a game or just searching on the net or anything else. I reboot it and it gets locked in a reboot loop. It will come up to the screen to restart normally or or attempt a startup repair. If I choose normal startup it will say loading windows files and then restart the computer. If I choose repair it never can fix the problem. Sometimes if I keep trying I can eventually get back in to windows but then I am missing files and getting errors.
By missing files I mean I have to verify steam games and it always finds missing files it needs to redownload even if it was a game that I was playing and running fine a few minutes before. The only thing loaded on the computer are Steam and the games with it, iTunes anda few games like Fallout 3.
Since this has started happening I have changed out the RAM, the motherboard and the video card. I have reformated the hard drives several times and tested to make sure they are okay. It isn't a heating problem, I have been monitering the heat and nothing is geting to warm.
Any ideas on what may be causing this. I have tried everything I know of and it's still occurring.
I generally buy my games for the PS3. The reason being that I have an older 360 that doesn't have HDMI. Plus after sending two 360's in for RROD I always have in the back of my mind that I will get a new game and then the 360 will crap out. Not to mention all the damn noise the thing makes when its running.
The only time I buy for the 360 is for games that I know are going to get DLC long before the PS3, like Fallout 3 or for big releases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 only because I have more friends that use Live than PSN.
Lately the 360 is being used even less because I am buying games like Fallout 3, Dragon Age and others for the PC. I use the 360 more for Netflix than games and that's because I am to lazy to get up and put the disc in the PS3. Once the PS3 gets the update where you don't need the disc anymore the 360 will probably just sit around and collect dust.
Noticed I wasn't showing everything so here is another picture.
I am running defraggler now but here is the screen shot of my task manager
Yes I do have the latest drivers installed.
4 gigs ddr2
The CPU multiplier is also called CPU clock ratio right? If so then on the BIOS under clock ratio it says Min 6 and Max 8. Its set on 8. Under that is Fine CPU clock ratio which has the choice of 0.0 or 0.5. Its set at 0.5.
It has a Geoforce GTX 260 in it.
