Here we go, my first blog. I'm not much of a blogging person, in a way blogging is kind of arrogant, why would anyone care about what I have to say. In the end frustration won out I could no longer stand the "Start your blog, Speak your mind" message.

So what should I make this blog about, well I decided to give you a bit of a history of my gaming experience. The start through to the present of my gaming life.

DOS
We all started on DOS games didn't we, I was about 4 when I started my DOS gaming career, with cames like Prince of Persia, California Games 2, Plebbs which isn't on this site, and most of all Side Scrolling master Striker. Now Striker is another game that has failed to make the Gamespot lists, heres a bit of an overview for those who haven't played it (which is just about everyone). In Striker you were the pilot of a battle ready helicopter and it was your mission to the your spies from the enemy terratory. You flew through the enemies lines using guns and bombs to destroy all in your path. The game was made in 1985 by Derek Williams making it 5 years older than me.

SNES
Our next system and first console was the SNES. we probably got this around '97 so it was far from new and never had the same impact as the DOS games. Never the less we still had some ****cs including Mortal Combat, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero and Super Mario Kart. These provided much entertainment but have only fully gained my attention in the last fews years in which I have learnt to appreciate the genius they are.

PC: Its second age of glory
The second and final great period for the PC began when my brother was given Dark Reign (go Aussie), this was shortly followed by Total Annihilation. How privaliged I was two of the greatest RTS games in the same year, games which are still highly playable now. These where followed by a flood of Star Wars (Phantom Manace, X-Wing alliance and Jedi Knight: Dark forces 2) and Sims games, but nothing would catch my imagination quite like age of Wonder and Tony Hawks 2, but what am I doing I'm getting ahead of myself, the PC age was overlapped by another great system.

N64
Yes the great N64 possessing many of the greatest games of all time. We personally only owned 3 games in it's hay-day; Rogue Squadron, Forsaken and Turok 2, but this didn't stop us from borrowing mates games. Yes we were those annoying people who had your best game for 6 months straight. We managed to borrow most of the greats; Golden Eye, Tony Hawks Pro Skater, Perfect Dark, The Legend of Zelda:The Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros. Those titles I read out there are the games that makes me feel the N64 can easily possess the title "Greatest Platform of all Time". I ended up buying the N64 from my brother last year and now play it as much as my XBox360.

XBox
It was the Christmas of 2002 that we got our first XBox, I still remember placing Halo in, the first game we played, oh yes, I also remember getting the first kill of our first game, which happened to be the only kill as the score limit was set at 1 for some reason. I held the belt over my brother, whose gaming skills were and still are superior to mine. In 2006 I bought my own XBox, meaning the house now had two and the magic of system link began. Each party a friend would have would be a LAN party, where I would supply both XBoxs, both Halo 2's and all the controllers. Microsoft owes me for that, our XBox mayhem was the direct cause of my friends buying a total of three XBoxs and 4 XBox360's for themselves.

XBox360
At last I got my hands on a console before my brother for in July 2007 I bought my XBox360! Unfortunately it didn't start too well as soon as I hooked it up I got an E68 error informing me my hard-drive was refusing to work, which prooved problematic because 2 of my games (Lego Star Wars 2 and Gears of War) refused to work without Gamer Profile. But we were battlers, there was still one game left Perfect Dark Zero (Death Match only). So we revisited the game that we called our favorite before Halo and found that the Zero was quite appropriate as it would never compare to the original. Now my brother own his own 360 (which also had a broken Hard-Drive) and now it 8 player Halo 3 at LAN parties, and so the cycle will continue the escalating thrill of the game and the enividable updating of Hardware, but one thing will continue, Gamer For Life.
