First, let me say I hope any GS members affected by this storm are safe and out of harm's way.

With that said I must confess that the Media hype surrounding this storm is a bit obnoxious. This is sensationalism at its worst.

Speaking as a native Floridian that has lived through a fair share of storms like this and/or greater magnitude, the amount of dramatizing and scare mongering being perpetrated by the Media is absolutely deplorable.

A Category 1 hurricane is nothing to make light of and that is not my intention with this blog. My intention is to point out the absurdity of the Media and how they are reacting to this particular storm. FOX News in particular seems to have latched on to the drama train and is going full steam ahead with non-stop, 24/7 coverage of this "super storm" which has been callouslessly dubbed "Frakenstorm."

The devastation displayed is nothing extravagant or overly destructive than what I have seen happen after similar storms here in Florida. Indeed, they should be happy that Sandy was only a Cat 1 strength because I can only imagine how more intense their drama would escalate had this storm been stronger.

My point is, please don't allow yourself to be suckered into the Media hype surrounding this storm. Stay safe, remain calm and keep a cool head. This is not the end of the world.
