Gold: You paid for a live subscription (about 60$ per year) to enable online multiplayer with every possible Xbox 360 game except MMORPGs. Silver: First you get a gamertag. Then you get a Windows Live account (www.live.com). Silver is free, enables you to download stuff from XBL, but no multiplayer and some other things. Don't be hasty. You will understand 99% of the concepts by turning on your Xbox and playing around with it for 10 minutes. Connect over wired Ethernet: Just plug the damn thing into the Xbox 360 and router. Be SURE your router supports Xbox LIVE. See http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/connectionmethods/intro.htm for detailed informations. Connect over WLAN: Buy extra Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter for alot of cash (around 90$). Make sure your WLAN is NOT on WPA2, though the manual may say its supported, its not. Even if it shows up on your Xbox, its always grayed out. The next thing you need if you're interessted in Xbox Live Arcade (small games, some great, some retro, some not worthy your time) you need a credit card or buy cards in your local score to boost up your Microsoft Points. Microsoft Points are there to hide the $-signs in their eyes, because you always have to buy them. Why they didnt just add the option to buy the stuff you want directly with your CC or add $ to your account is unclear to me. Most arcade games cost 800 Points as expansions for games you have like mappacks that arent free. Retro ones 400. Background-themes around 150, Picture-Packs to get you another Avatar-Picture around 100 to 0.Holly cripes I'm getting a lot of random stuff from you guys. Gold accounts? Silver accounts? Live accounts? What's the diff between the 3? And where do I make an account of any of the 3?
My 360 won't be close to my modem because the TV in my room is just a 27 inch standard ef TV. I wanna use the one in the living room 42 inch plasma screen. Anyway, what do I need to do to get connection to my 360.
