its not vaporware....its just waiting for at&t and other companies to make the service worth implementing....iptv is taking a while to catch on....ive seen it in action since i have an in-law that has the service...it runs pretty good but there are major limitations to how many streams can be sent to one home at a time....to the point that if your recording and viewing a program in HD...the other boxes in the home cannot view other channels....

It also doesnt provide the same quality of HD that you get from cable...let alone satellite

the technology needs to grow a bit more

assassins creed isnt getting great reviews from every site.....as a matter of fact the average score for the game is 84%....def not game of the year material in the face of bioshock, halo 3, crysis, etc.

so no....1up hasnt lost any credibility...as a matter of fact they had a very legit review of the game....and stated that the game gets boring after a couple of hours of doing the same thing and gave it a 70%...many other reviews said that the combat becomes repetative as well but still gave it a 90% or similar.....so id trust 1ups review a bit more

[QUOTE="billyforde"]Picture quality wise, if you have a great HDTV it will kill any pc monitor but no console will be able to pump out the graphics a top of the line PC can. never. Picture quality is a completely different argument then graphics though and graphics was the question. PC will always win at the highest settings. Always.hazuki

That pretty much owns the thread. A great hdtv *NON CRT THOUGH!* can own basically any lcd or crt monitor if made right. Though the pc will always reign surpreme over console in graphics. Console games are made on the pc for goodness sakes... *laughs*

wow....at this misinformation...

a CRT HDTV provides better picture then any other consumer line television....

yes...CRT HDTV > LCD, plasma, dlp, lcos, etc.

why? better black levels....you can make an arguement for LCD resolution....but when it comes down to it color reproduction > resolution once you reach 1080p

I honestly dont understand how people can say its JUST like 2k7....

its VERY VERY different....to the point where 2k7 players are complaining about having to adjust to the new gameplay mechanics of 2k8....

for one the game is ALOT slower....and i mean ALOT....the pacing is a lot more like real basketball.....its a huge difference between 2k8 speed and 2k7 speed...

the foot planting makes the characters control completely different because you actually have to pay attention to a characters footing when doing special moves like crossovers and spins....

you cant play run and gun basketball and drive to the rim.....the defensive a.i. makes it tougher to drive with one player on a regular basis....on 2k7 you could easily get in the paint.....in 2k8 its tough to get in the paint...and once you get there if the player your using doesnt have a good traffic shooting rating (new feature) it wont go in most of the time...

theres new off the ball controlling of teammates which changes a bit of the strategy used on offense....

and most importantly the game is a lot harder.....people who could play on hall of fame difficulty on 2k7 and destroy the computer are playing at lower difficulty levels because the a.i. is that much more of a pain to deal with

Some of these points have been beaten, but people still repeat it.

1) Play splitscreen: Serious Sam uses split screen

2) Play a game out of the box: Halo 2 for PC does this. It's a feature of Windows Vista. You just put the disc in and it plays.IndianaJosh

so you name 1 exception for each example as a way to discredit was is standard on a whole platform?

1 exception out of thousands of games?

fail?

[QUOTE="slystallion26"]

You guys do realize you will get the red rings if you don't connect the back properly and try to turn on the system.

Once you reconnect it properly it works fine.

Anyone encounter this with their 360?

dream431ca

All 4 red rings light up at the same time if you don't connect the A/V cable. The 3 red rings indicates a hardware fault. So you can't create the 3 red rings by not plugging in the A/V cable.

you can recreate the 3 red rings by turning off your surge protector if your 360 is hooked up to one....

or unplug the power supply from the wall outlet....any fluctuation of power will give you the rrod as an error message....i witnessed this the other day during a power failure at my house....

so if you dont connect the power cable correctly as he said...it will give you the rrod message

the funny thing is....

that i gaurantee 99% of this board doesnt have the equipment necessary to hear the difference between dolby dts and the uncompressed pcm on blu-ray....

if you dont have B&w, rotel, mcintosh quality equipment you shouldnt even be argueing the point of audio quality.....

If MS ever started using this, than some of your arguments would hold water. Until then enjoy your 4-5 disc next gen games.

I'm sure the current gen consoles could run the crappy demos you linked too, but I'm referring to next gen caliber games, which makes the requirements higher since this relies on ones hardware.

welltarnation

oblivion uses procedural rendering in its foilage.....and spore uses procedural rendering in the whole game
