I recently picked up "Of Orcs and Men" because I have always been fascinated by games/books/movies/etc. where the protagonist is a non-human and humanity (not just an individual human) is the enemy.

Unfortunately, this theme isn't very common in video games. So I ask, what are some games that portray humanity as the villain?

Blood Omen/Legacy of Kain come to mind but I'd argue that Kain is the real villain in those games.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I'm starting up Odin Sphere as I'm writing this. If this thread has shown me anything it's how pervasive norse mythology has been in gaming = /

Also I wanna clarify what I said about Too Human and Viking. Ive played and beaten both these games and had a decent amount of fun playing both. But each of them lack polish and depth that other games in their respective genre's have had (think Diablo II vs Too Human, or Legend of Zelda vs Viking).

Since the announcement of Elders Scrolls V I've had the itch to play a game with Nordic influence or subject matter. Basically I'm looking for anything involving vikings/norse gods/norse mythology. The only ones that come to my mind were sub-par (Too Human, Viking:Battle for Asgaard). Anyone know some good ones (regardless of platform/genre)?

Guard: Put down your weapon creature, and we'll promise you a swift death.

Kain: I could promise you the same...but it would be a lie.

Legacy of Kain Defiance.

True, and since most people who will be getting the new ds all ready have a previous version of the ds to play their GBA games on, I expect there wont be a lot of opposition to this change

I'd make Skies of Arcadia 2. If I had to be more original I'd make a stealth based rpg

little known game called "industrial spy" for the sega dreamcast (would only recommend if ur a masochist and enjoy hours and hours of pain and suffering). Ninja Gaiden Black is a close second.
