My xbox died about a month ago. I was able to revive it for a little while using the towel trick, after a while it would only last one game sesion before kicking the bucket. Before this I had always thought that the news storys were full of it, but my xbox proved me wrong I guess. Regardless, Microsoft has been very good about it and my xbox should be sent back soon.

Yesterday I made myself $500 poorer by buying the 80GB metal gear solid ps3 bundle. After spending a couple of hours with it, I am very impresed. Metal Gear Solid looks and plays amazingly. Installing it feels a little weird since it is a console game, but it was not a big deal(only 8 min) and things load very quickly. As far as I can tell so far it definately earned it's 10 rating. The PS3 itself looks and feels like an amazing piece of hardware. The software contains a lot of neat little features like remote play using a psp and I look forward to trying these out. Unlike my 360, the ps3 runs fairly quietly, and is very well suited for playing movies. I hope to rent a blue ray movie this weekend to see the visual difference between blue ray and a dvd. So far my experience with the ps3 has been very positive and I definately feel that it was worth the money.
