To bring up a different topic:
I absolutely love this game.... And not only because it has fantastic gameplay and an immersive storyline, but because i feel this is what games for "adults" should be.
I mean... this is the only game so far that i don't feel bad playing for 2 hours straight. I feel like i'm playing something important and necessary to be able to critique the world as we know it.
Many reviewers say it's a "thinking man's game" and I completely agree. One reviewer, I remember, said that there's games for strategists and puzzle-solvers, but that this game is made for the philosophers... people who like to think in that way.
I myself look forward to every cutscene in a game, and sometimes I play the game just to see them, so imagine when i stumbled upon MGS4's varied, pleasantly lengthy, (as I said, i think i must be a movie diehard at heart, but the longer the cutscenes, the more i seem to love the game) action-packed, emotive, and philosophical cutscenes, I knew that Kojima had more on his agenda then making just a fun game to play.
Frankly, this is the reason why I bought the PS3. Since the beginning this is what Sony has been touting: the ULTIMATE cinematic experience, and I've yet to see anything so mature and intelligent and grounded in real-world idealogies and criticism, that treats it's buyer like an intellectual, instead of a little kid with ADD as most games on a certain other platform seem to be shooting for. (NOT insulting ADD kids)
Before, it was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune that was the best game i've ever played (yes I've played all of the other big ones: HS, R&C, RFOM, COD4, etc.) but now, hands-down MGS4 is the best game I'll likely ever play... who knows, maybe Killzone 2 or FFXIII will take that crown next year, but for now it's definitely this game.
If your still hesitant about buying it, DON'T be. In fact, don't make the same mistake I did, and just go buy the Limited Edition, because I'm so regretting not getting it now....
And yes, i realize i may be getting a couple of TLDRs but I don't care, this was worth it :P
BTW, how is the Limited Edition, for those who care to share?
