What you are implying is that Americans are a violent people and just express this with guns. Canada has stringent controls on handguns and semi auto rifles, there are checks and rules on buying shotguns and hunting rifles. There is a reason why Canada reached a 50 year low in gun homicides in 2012 and it is gun regulation and control.
Not that there is any evidence that exposure to violent games and movies causes the same, but, keep in mind that the same violent movies and tv shows are watched and the same violent games are played in other countries like Canada where there is minimal gun violence and strict gun laws, the same with Britain, Australia, etc. The US has 40% of the worlds guns and the resulting amount of gun carnage.
