Guys,

We've just finished an unusual feature film for computers which has been made exclusively in Flash... it is an interactive film where you get to play a role. Can you pl take a look at the trailer before we send it to the studios and tell us if you think this is good/okay/sucks?

Thanks

let me take a look again..

[QUOTE="L2State"][QUOTE="toment"]

You mean games like these?

EDIT: ****ing Gamevideos.com and their redirecting urls

toment

Not so sad though! Not just things where the player is asked questions... but they actually interact with the image (eg shoot a real person kind of thing)

Did you watch the whole video? Because the second game they play is exactly what you've described.

I'm pretty sure they didn't use any animation for the "classic" Night Trap: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Trap starring everyone's favorite Dana Plato.

Robio_basic

"Night Trap is considered a pioneering title in video game history, as it is one of the first successful games that incorporates gameplay with live action video."

I took a look at the screenshots, but it seems that a lot of interactivity was via the menu at the bottom, not with the images themselves, right? (eg performing an action on the image, like we do in regular games)

Dragon's Lair, or Phantasmagoria if you want to get technical. If you do, I'm leaving :P.Video_Game_King

No i dont mean in the storytelling sequences, but in the entire game... Dragon's Lairuses it more to push the story forward, right?? And do you know what kind of interactivity did phantasmagoria offer??

[QUOTE="enormousaxie"]what software are you using to design your game...? Maya...?enormousaxie

part of it, yes, but we have shot it like a movie also because all the characters are real life actors... if you are interested, let me know. i can show you some details. dont want to be spamming you unless you want to know :-) i am a filmmaker making this game, and i am new to this community hence my basic questions... any feedback will be helpful.

I would really like to know more about this project... I'm a photoshop designer myself and just starting with cinema4d and maya... :)

our preview, which willnot show you the interactive part of the game yet, is at www.latentlava.com. basically this game is like a movie but the audience playsa role in the movie, and the story evolves based on their actions. and the role they play is way beyond just saying how they want the story toproceed (e.g. i want to this guy to die or live etc). they actually shoot at real people, kill them if they do well, they are responsible for the lives of their friends (real life actors), they conduct intelligence related to the mission etc, which country are you in?

I watched that preview... and wow... absolutely amazing... ^___^ and I live in the Netherlands...

glad you like it! BTW, how frequently do people download movies in the netherlands?? i am assuming the internet connection speeds are better there than in the US.. because we plan to offer this on disks as well as downloads, and we are having trouble estimating how significant the downloads could be..

Everybody that I know has ADSL so they can download movies (most of them do this)... so with some good advertising on game and news website... (maybe some website were they offer downloads) you can get loads of downloads...

cool, if you have any suggestions of the dominant websites in Europe for movie downloads/gaming news, let me know. As you could tell from our trailer, the subject of this game is very relevant to people around the globe, so it should find a good sized audience in Europe also,..

alright... I will make a little list and PM (Private message) it to you... :) and did you ever thought about opening a forum on your teams website..? like vbulletin (paid) or phpBB (free)... I'm an admin on a growing forum and it's a great way to inform your possible customers/players about your game... And I think a lot of people would want to help you with the project... ^___^

The list will be really really helpful.Wedo have an entire community type site for this game that we arejust finishingat www.L2State.com and we are in the process of bringing it to our main site (the one you went to)... our thought so far was that people might want to contribute to the anti-terrorism theme of the game but you bring up a really interesting point that we could use the same forum to seek help in developing the game as well.. but i guess the key is to see how you can grow the traffic qucikly... also pl let me know if you think that phpBB or Vbulletin can be customized to our look and feel...
