This Post Gets A 5/10

If anybody still reads this/cares I've decided to do some more of my award winning reviews. So far my list is this:

  1. Halo 3
  2. Shadowrun
  3. Ikaruga
  4. Soul Calibur IV
  5. Fallout 3
  6. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
  7. Puzzle Quest DS
  8. The World Ends With You
  9. KORG DS-10
  10. Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble
  11. Castlevania Order of Eccelsia
Yeah so looks like I've got a lot of playing to do. I'm on holiday break so these should be done within the next few days.

Wait, What?

Seeing how Soul Calibur IV comes out on Tuesday I figured it's time to get some things off my chest regarding the game. Firstly...

This makes sense. An undead pirate fighting a Frenchman in what I'm assuming a 16th or 18th century setting. Where as this...

DOESN'T! To this day I don't understand it. How can someone from like a million years into the future fight somebody with primitive weapons and still be a fair fight. Ontop of that Mr.Starkiller(guy on the right from Star Wars: Force Unleashed) as well as Yoda and Darth Vader all have Force powers to boot. It should be noted that they three do have a Force bar that drains with the use of each move and eventually their health bar drains after excessive use of Force powers.

I guess my biggest problem is that the inclusion of Star Wars characters in the Soul Calibur universe seems very out of place and it looks like Namco Bandai is jumping the shark. As far as I know time travel has never been a theme or mentioned in any piece of Star Wars canon or fiction. I'm not a super huge Star Wars nerd but I do have very fond memories of the movies and Knights of the Old Republic and Battlefront games. I also have very fond memories of Soul Calibur II on the Gamecube and I guess I'm worried about the balance of IV.

Despite my complaints I did put down a deposit on the game and will pick it up on day 1 and the best part is if I don't like it or whatever I can return it within a week to EB games and get a full refund which is pretty nice.

610 and doing fine

610 is my Xbox Live Gamerscore as of writing this. Personally I can't be bothered with grinding for achievements. I mean who really has time to get every little thing in every game. I know it's designed for the hardcore and completeists out there but some of us are too lazy/don't have enough time to "find all the terminals" in Halo 3 or practise enough to "survive to 1 million points" in Geometry Wars or even memorize all the patterns in Ikaruga. I guess what I'm saying is make easier achievements for the lazy Xbox 360 gamers. I want to atleast get 2000 points but I'm not going to sit through playing TMNT to get there.

Someone Find Me A Dragon For I Shall Feast On It's Flesh!

I like DragonForce. They're pretty cool guys who play fast guitar and aren't really afraid of anything. Normally I'm not into the whole power metal stuff (I prefer the metalcore although I'm starting to like mathcore, thrash, and deathcore even more) but when I listen to them I feel like I could kill a dragon. Yup I said it. DragonForce makes me want to hunt and kill a dragon. Hell they've got the word dragon in their name. I bet if it came down to it they'd kill it with their insane guitar licks and yes I'm aware some of it it is studio trickery but I don't care.

Well well well. I guess I'm not crazy after all.

On Saturday (well technically Sunday morning) I made a thread about someone who keeps randomly showing up for a few seconds in the middle of MuchMusic shows(It's kind of like MTV but they atleast try to show videos). Anyways I was watching Much last night out just to see if my mystery man would show up and he did this time holding a sign with a website address written on it.

www.phreak615.com

Site doesn't work atleast not for me but after the 1.5 seconds of Goggle searching I came to this.

http://phreak615.blogspot.com/

^The face of the phreak.

The blog itself gives me some information. phreak615 appears (this being the keyword) a disgruntled Much employee who seems to be able to hack the Master Feed because from what I've heard this isn't just a Toronto thing. I'm not really sure what to make of this. If this is just somebody trying to push the buttons of a broadcaster who neglects actuall music videos for stuff like the OC and that damn Girlicious show then I'm all for it but I'm pretty sure this is some viral marketing stunt because we all know how much advertisers love those.

On a side note there is an e-mail given on it's Blogspot profile so I may e-mail this character and see what's what if I even get a real response from it(him/her? I'm not really sure).

Virtual Console is letting me down.

Anyone else noticing the lack of good games on the Wii Virtual Console? I'm talking about Genesis and SNES stuff. I bought Gunstar Heroes and Star Fox 64 but I haven't found anything else that excites me. Prehaps I need suggestions, anyone want to help me out?

Wii have a serious problem...

I am a Wii owner and proud of it. My little white box has brought me much joy since I purchased it. Albeit, I don't own that many games for it and there lies the the problem. Wii games suck. I know what I said. The Wii (currently) is being treated like the Gamecube. Getting half-baked ports of older games (ie Mortal Kombat: Armeggedon, Prince of Persia: Rival Swords) or the crappiest version of newer games (Spiderman 3, Transformers). If it's supposedly the fast sell console in history then why is it everytime I have money to buy a game I always wind up buying a new DS cart. I find it sad when the best Wii games out there happen to be ports of games released on the Gamecube from either last year(I know the Wii version was first but it original started out as a GC gameso get over it fanboys) or two years ago (Resident Evil 4). Although times are changing, crappy Wii games continue to flood the market. Even Nintendo tries to pass off Pokemon Battle Revolution as a must have Pokemon Wii game. I call bs. Call it what it really is, Pokemon Stadium Pearl/Diamond. That brings me to another point. Where's the online play? 360 and PS3 had it right out of the box and we have to wait almost a year to get Wifi games coming out. In the past I've said that Sony needs to get their act together with the PS3 but now Nintendo is also showing signs of not caring about their consumer base. So here's a simple list of what ( I think) should be done to help the Wii stay a contender.

1. NO MORE MINI-GAME COMPLIATIONS!!! Seriously guys, if you want to avoid the gimmick stigma then stop letting developers release them on your system.

2. Fix online. The Wifi Connection works fine but friend codes are annoying. Surely it'd be alot easier to give each unit it's own little unique code instead of shoving a bunch of numbers down our thoats.

3.No more ports. As good as RE4: Wii Edition is the system needs more original games. I'm tired of developers trying to sell me an old game just because it's on the Wii. A turd is still a turd even if it's wrapped in gold fabric.

I'm not trying to hate but over the last little while I've been questioning my Wii's existence and contemplated selling it so I can buy a Elitel 360. So Nintendo, either shape up or I'm going to "Jump In".

Just a Quick Note..

It seems 0 out of 9 people don't like my review of Mortal Kombat: Armeggedon for the Wii. I gave it a 5.0 and called it crap for which it is. If you think I hate that game just wait for my review on the Spider-man 3 game.

You're All On Notice!!

That's right. I've official complied my own "On Notice Board" made famous and being held by Stephen Colbert. Sure it may look random but there are reasons for the names. First off...

  1. MTV. Start playing music videos again. Maybe the concept is foreign to you but not all of use wanna go to your crappy website to watch music videos. Also enough with these California "reality" shows. We all know that Laguan Beach and the Hills are fake. Enough with the lies!
  2. Death From Above 1979. One of my favorite bands of all time. Yes I love them to death and yes they've inspired me to form a hardcore drum and bass outfit but for all that is good. Get back together!!!! Sure MSTKRFT is okay but c'mon I need some more distorted bassy goodness back in my life.
  3. Cable News Networks(excluding Fox News). Stop scarying me wih you doomsday propaganda. Also Canandian cable news networks. Stop sucking seriously, it's pretty sad when I have to turn to CNN instead of CBC News World for my 24 hour news needs.
  4. Fox News. Fox News? More like Faux News. It's pretty sad(but strangely awesome) when you have to get Chuck Norris to fill in for one of your hosts.
  5. Al Gore. Run for President in 08. You have a better chance this time. If not then would you come to my party?
  6. Hardcore Dancing. You're stupid, go away. I don't see how it's considered dancing when all you're doing is swinging you arms in circles and pretending to fight a ghost.
  7. Wii Sports. Get fun or get out!
  8. 1987 Toronto Blue Jays. They know what they did.....
