So everyone has a blog post about E3, I may be a little late but I guess 2 days past and 2 days left is a nice time to actually discuss what have we seen and what yet awaits us.
The biggest thrill for me, personally, was Assassin's Creed II. Yes, the core gameplay remains unchanged, even the nuances(Bench-kill, Haystack-kill, Double-kill, all kinds of kills) are not that impressive. It's just that seeing one of the most atmospheric games getting a new worthy setting is somehow pleasant. The flying sequences were great, really, nicely balanced by the fires, but this way or another they seem scripted. Let's hope we get to glide in freeroam mode.
Another surprise was that Ubisoft actually seems to care about Splinter Cell: Conviction, and they have actually worked hard on re-working the game. The gameplay is fresh, new fisher looks less beggar more badass, but still, the older concept was somehow more original, and living the life of a criminal suspect hiding in the street would have been more interesting, personal opinion.
Enough about Ubisoft. Sony did a Wowed thing announcing MGS for the Box. It will severely impact PS3, that's obvious, but things like Gran Turismo, Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet are always there to help. To be honest, I'm not really into console gaming, so that's basically all that was interesting for me in there. Well, almost.
Speaking of GT, Racing games did their thing. Shift, Forza 3, Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo PSP, were great. All in their right places, at last. And absolutely all of them looking promising. Forza 3 needs a little bit more to get to GT-s level, but witht he right angle of approach from the devs, just enough innovations and originality can grant a steady Xbox 360-exclusive status.
The cinematic debuts we saw, like ACII or Star Wars: The Old Republic really lit my interest. I would like to separately note their excellence.
A sudden announce, Left4Dead 2, was truly sudden and that's it. The game was not freshened, or added to. I'm scared to say but Valve may have been right to not making sequels(almost). The game looks like an outdated LFD mod, no offence. Time will tell the truth.
I'm really looking forward to the final part of the conference, I'm sure some smarter devs have the best kept for the last. I can't really make accurate predictions, I just hope for sequels like Portal 2, and strange to hear this from me but some more Indie games would be great. Those things are the top stuff these days.
About electronics, the PSP Go! was a great announce, at last a handheld I might get: It looks cool, it has an online marketplace, the most powerful portable visuals and my favourite slider design. Looking forward!
Now I know this isn't much, I don't really remember everything I've watched in E3 coverages, if I remember something important I'll edit this entry.
And now some "Myself" updates. The bad news: Mass Effect review is delayed, yet again(Call me GSG, but it's the honest truth) because I decided to get that 2-disc edition, and include Bring Down The Sky in the review. No offence guys, just need some time ;)
And the pleasant surprise, the E3 Day 2 emblem. I just tuned in for a few minutes, wanted to get a glimpse. Thanks to Gamespot for the generous award!
About the union and my inactivity for the last few days, sorry guys. Really. It's the damn exams, they'll be over in a few week and I'll get back to systematic contributions by that time.
