Yes I downloaded the demo for Weapons of Fate today. The game as I take it is pretty good, and a solid candidate for renting. Here's what I got from the demo:
The gameplay is great, although I found the default mouse sensitivity setting a little too high. The mechanics work fine, there may be some confusing with cover but it takes minutes to get used to. The special powers include the famed bullet curves(Actually, you're curving their trajectory, but whatever) and a cover-from-cover bullet-time mode. Both work fine and are very easy to handle AND cancel if you change your mind(That's important for me). Both also require Adrenaline, for which you have 2 slots(Guess there will be more in the full version), and which you gain by killing enemies. The demo took place in a crashing airplane, so the optimization can't be measured just yet because fo the tight quarters. Overall, my GT8600 performed nicely at a 800x600. Funny, I know, but apart from the resoulution I found no other graphic settings. The graphics themselves are pretty neat, with nice HDR, m/blur and artistic design put in the game. But the textures, models and animation simply aren't as good as they should be. From the one cutscene I got I can only judge that they too are not greatly done. Animation failures include the facial movement. The voice acting was generally good, from the bits I got. A little bit of Cross, and a little bit of Wesley(who wasn't voiced by McAvoy, but resembled his voice very well). The dinamics and action seem genetically fused with the very core of gameplay here, and that's something we rarely see these days.
So, that was it. It will be a very decent game for rental, if the pacing we saw in the demo will be contained in the full version.
