[QUOTE="Notsogr8one"] It's not just about graphics programming you know. Sony actually makes things stupidly difficult (as in much more difficult than they ever should be) with the PS3 cell architecture and their development tools while Microsoft makes things as easy as possible with their own tools.savagetwinkie

Yes, I know about the Cell's architecture, but Valve didn't even attempt to work on the PS3 version. Then went out and said something like The PS3 is a complete failure Sony should scrap it and start over. Now if I came onto these boards and said that I would be called a fanboy. I know main reason was because of the Cell, but working with Direct-X for years then coming to a Open GL platform would cause some headaches.

its compeltely their choice though, they dont' owe sony anything and when they are completely comfortable dev'ing for just the PC and 360 comes along and they can just make some stuff for that too, then ps3 comes along and it turns out dev'ing on the ps3 for them the cost > benefits so they don't bother.

I have a PC that can play Crysis maxed out you really think I care that they don't put there games on the PS3? I'm saying Gabe Newell has no right to trash talk the PS3.

Just get a 360 or a PC and then you can enjoy their quality games instead of whine about them not developing for the one system you do have. Or can we also agree that Naughty Dog and Guerilla are "fanboy companies" too?

Oh and I voted Bioware as the best developer. They did after all produce (IMHO) the Game of the Generation, Mass Effect 2, as well as so many other critically acclaimed RPGs (Dragon Age, KOTOR, Baldur's Gate)

Naughty Dog and Guerilla both have history of developing games for Non Sony Products. What made Valve a fanboy company was when Gabe Newell trash talked the PS3 when he does not know a single thing about it. PS3 uses Open GL Valve only has a history of Direct-X based platforms, and Valve didn't even attempt to developed the PS3 version of the orange box. Now if Valve actually developed the PS3 version then it would be different. I like Valve, but I'm not going to support them when there in the wrong.

[QUOTE="LTBlueNeon"]Your missing my point. Look at Valves history they have never made a product on a non Microsoft product. There computer games don't work on Linux or on Macs. They never developed a games for the dream cast, PS2, Game Cube, and PS3, and when they do they start trash talking the product. Even to top it off the founder of Valve worked at Microsoft. There probably not fan boys, but they are bias. ironman388

most games dont work on Macs (because of apple, not because of game developers) and i was always under the impression that valve games worked on linux based operating systems (linux is a kernel not an OS as you are treating it, get your facts straight, ubuntu is a linux based OS)

edit: yeah just checked, some source games do work on Wine or ubuntu. also they made half life 2 on PS2, so yeah get your facts straight AGAIN

The PS2 version of half life was not developed by Valve. Linux is a type of Operating system like Windows. Ubuntu is a version of Linux like Vista is a version of Windows. Games not working well with Mac has nothing to do with Apple. It has to do with Open GL which is what Linux uses so your theory fails. Linux is a Unix like operating system based on the Linux Kernel, and Windows is an add on to MS-DOS. Wine is a Windows Emulator that uses older versions of Direct-X. So it's not running Valve's games Native on Linux. Watch this video to get a understanding of the differences between Open GL and Direct-X. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZnua9zkraM

@ferret-gamer Yeah with Wine. My point is that they were not developed for Linux. My whole point with Valve not developing for different Operating system's and other consoles. it's because those operating system's and consoles are not Direct-X based while the xbox and windows is. So Valve has no experience with non Direct-X platforms so when Gabe Newell trash talked the PS3 that what made him bias, because the PS3 is Open GL based not Direct-X based. So he has no experience in it what so ever. Not only that the PS3 is harder to develop for so instead of learning like ever body else he just ditched it on to EA which ported it to the PS3 with Frame rate and sound issues. Now if he made programs for non Direct-X platforms and attempted to Developed The Orange Box for the PS3 then Valve would not be Bias.

Mograine

Steam?

Steam only works on Windows. Valve only makes games and applications only for Microsoft Products. All there computer games only work on windows, and the only console they ever developed for was the xbox and xbox 360. The PS2 version of Half Life was developed by gear box while the xbox version of half life 2 was developed by valve. Now The orange box on PS3 was developed by EA and the 360 version was developed by Valve. So yeah they are a fanboy company.
