[QUOTE="LVLLNKIM"]The TC makes a great point that people have been glossing over. 95% of all previews can be interpreted to be "positive" if one wished to. That's because it's a preview, and journalists are still hopeful about the game/system. Some people are looking at Wii previews and saying, "zOMG, anyone who even comes near a Wii says that they love it!" Yeah, by those standards, you could say the same thing about the PS3 or any given game that hasn't been released yet.
By my observations, the previews for the Wii have been pretty much par for course for the preview of ANY system. In other words, mostly positive with plenty of criticisms as well as praises. And I'm not sure that that's necessarily a good thing, since if the Wii really is to pull people away from games that look significantly better, it's gonna have to really wow them, convince them that it's the next big thing like the analog stick did. And that's just not happening, according to the previews.

Right. But, you don't understand... The Wii is so radically different that if it DIDN'T work, they would say something.
So, this means the controller works as expected.
Which means the system is what I want.
Er, what? The controller works as expected, the previews indicate. But that's not gonna be enough for the Wii; if it's really gonna win by the merits of its controller, it's gonna have to wipe the floor with the old control schemes. And if that were the case, the previews would have said that. Just like everyone raved about how the analog stick was the next big thing, back in 1996. Then, the reception was uniformly and gushingly positive, not like now, where there are plenty of mixed responses and very few overly positive ones.
That's not to say that the Wii will fail. But it does mean that the whole, "everyone who's touched a Wii loves it!" isn't a very accurate statement.
