yet FIFA is going free on PC Link[QUOTE="L_lL_l"]
Explain to me why EA Sports decided to be console exclusive? Why EA Sports can live off consoles without the PC? Does Infinity Ward even remotely need the PC?

I read your points, and they make sense.
Then I read this,http://www.tweakguides.com/Piracy_1.html, and it also makes sense.
Both your claims make sense, but I'm not sure which one is dominating or how these can actually co-excist. Can they?
My take on piracy is that it's like opening a fridge. If there's candy, chocolate, ice cream, etc missing out on lolly pops doesn't matter you'll simply pick something else, however if the fridge is empty you'll have no other choice then to go out and buy something.
Piracy is just like that, the reason why sales don't increase even if a game would be perfectly protected (rarely happens nowadays) is because the abundance of alternatives. If Piracy would be restricted either thro legislation, encryption chips/software protection to make it time-consuming/too difficult for the casual player, piracy could be reduced significantly but more importantly we would potentially see a rise in software sales.
Is my reasoning incorrect?

I'll have to go through that link some time, don't have time to go through a 10 page article right now I'm afraid. I'll bookmark for later.
My views on piracy is it is a problem, just not as big a one as people 'like' to make out. They accuse people of criticising "piracy is killing PC" comments as being in denial and down playing, I just don't see anything in the real world that suggests they are correct.
DRM is the negative real world impact of piracy, that's something you can point to and say that right there is the result of piracy. But the platform itself dying? Developers fleeing to consoles to escape piracy and preferring to make games on consoles to avoid it? There just isn't any evidence for that, in fact there is evidence to contradict that as I pointed out. There are more developers remaining exclusive to the platform with piracy than the supposedly safe consoles.
I think people just use any excuse that enables them to bash alternative platforms, piracy is a easy one. Especially if you're the sort of person who sees something happening on PC, plus the exact same thing happening on consoles, but chooses to only recognise it on PC because it aids your anti PC views.
If people are going to criticise PC; then use legitimate criticisms. Talk about it being more expensive, less accessible, less convenient or whatever. Don't exaggerate problems completely over the top to aid your argument, or worse yet just make stuff up.

Rock Band wouldn't work on PC, it's a party game and party games generally don't work on PC as a platform, not to mention the audiences are different (also there's free versions of music rhythm games on PC that let you insert your own songs and play them, playing the entire dark side of the moon album is fun)mentioning The Beatles Rock Band is redundantMLB 09: The Show is 1st party not 3rd party and is exclusive to Sony platformsNinja Gaiden Sigma is also exclusive to the PS3Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia publisher (Namco Bandai) has only ever published 1 game for the PC in its history, not expectedVirtua Fighter 5 and Soul Calibur 4 and Tekken 6 are also not expected since there's no fighting-game audience on the PCFifa Soccer 10 was released on WindowsNHL 09 was also released on Windows[QUOTE="L_lL_l"]Hermits are trying to push the notion that the world is going multiplat....Well not all game developers do that. Some know that the PC pirates will CANNIBALISE the console sales.... These 3rd party AAA games are console exclusive due to the PC piracy: Rock Band FIFA Soccer 10 The Beatles: Rock Band MLB 09: The Show NHL 09 Ninja Gaiden Sigma High end AA games: Eternal Sonata Virtua Fighter 5 Condemned 2: Bloodshot Soulcalibur IV Tales of Vesperia Brutal Legend Tekken 6 Can anyone explain to me how this is possible? Why these devs avoid PC gaming like plague?88mphSlayer
the only legit complaints is your post is Brutal Legend (which didn't do very well on consoles anyways) and Condemned 2: Bloodshot (which also didn't sell very well on consoles)
I took that list from the GS SW spreadsheet..... so why the games you say that are exclusive are not in orange on that list? Oh and FIFA 10 was not on PC it was a crappy PS2 port.....SF4 was touted as the showcase of EVERYONE going multiplat.... Why SSF is not a full multiplat? There are 3rd parties that know that they will LOSE money if they simply port....the PC version will cannibalise the other two...While you seem to be a troll and are trying to start some kind of argument, ill play your game, I'm rather bored right now
rock band> a game made for local multiplayer, not due to piracy
beatles rock band> see above
Sports games> there arent many on the pc and most pc gamers have little intest in them
ninja gaiden > I found the game rather boring and see it as nothing of value being lost
Eteral sonata> we have far, far , far better rpgs
Tales of Vesperia> see above
Virtua Fighter 5> not man fighting games on the PC, again. they are local multiplayer focuse
Tekken 6 > see above
soulcaliber IV> see above
Brutal Legend> this is indeed a great game and i feel the controls would be made better on the pc, but there is no evidence that they kept it off pc due to piracy or any other reason than they wanted to make it for consoles.
while you can try to agrue with your short list of games that aren't on the PC as devs avoiding PC gaming, let us take a look at how many console devs have shut down this gen shall we? Free Raical, Ensemble(last game was x360 exclusive), red octaine, 3D realms (though that was due to them spending over a decade on 1 game), quite a few others i can't recall the names of how many PC devs have shut down this gen........ ironclad, i think that's it, they say it was piracy but their game was realllllllllllllly buggy and bad
