Any of the ultimate series are great, ultimate xmen and fantastic 4. Uh, im reading new avengers now loving that, in ultimate the ultimates volume 1 and 2 are amazing but 3, uh no so much. These arn't marvel but you REALLY should check them out, they are great, the walking dead and invincible, both by robert kirkman (who did marvel zombies) under image comics, they are really good books. Allstar superman is also very good, but if you are looking for a comic that will take you a week to read im pointing you to watchmen, it really is a must read for any comic fan. Very good, and the movie will be out either late this year or early next.
What is the problem with it being mainstream to? Some of the best comics are. If you are looking for a good series to jump into now, go pick up Wolverine #66 its about wolverine in a barren future where heroes have fallen and he is an old guy with a family, it really is suberd. Can't wait for the next one.
