Funny this article popped up while my little boy is playing Sunshine. We got Galaxy yesterday, and he just wanted to get back to the water fun of the previous one. After playing both so recently, I can say that Galaxy wipes the floor with Sunshine graphically, especially on a 16:9 set up, where Sunshine is stretched. It has aged nicely, but doesn't get close to the texture quality of the new one. The overall presentation of Galaxy is extremely over the top, and is a stunningly addictive experience, and has been hooking everyone that has come near it the past 24 hours. And the sound design, which maybe isn't as relevant here, is superb on Galaxy where as Sunshine was a little grating. Truely, Super Mario Galaxy is in an absolute league of it's own, and is an amazingly pure experience that looks wild and plays intuitively. Just this side of perfect in the 10 or so hours I've spent with it. and honestly Sunshine never even held my attention.

I have a P4 3ghz with 1 gig ram, which is not gaming-current. I am running a BFG GeForce 7800 GS card with 1gig on it though, and its allows me to play the game at 100% settings at a 1600 x 1200 resolution at a very nice clip. Not quite 30 all the time, but extremely playable.

PS3 would be worth buying when I don't have to hide the purchase from people around me, for fear I will look like a complete moron. Because I don't know a single human being who likes/wants/respects the PS3 right now. Of every one of my friends and acquaintances, I have zero, that's ZERO people with interest in this system. One friend got a PS3 from his girlfriend at Christmas, and he just called me last week for advice on getting rid of it. At the risk of upsetting her, he wants to dump it for trade in value to by Xbox360 / Wii / DS stuff. It was interesting to see the only friend I have with a PS3 be so disappointed, and he didn't even buy the thing. Interestingly, my local liquor store owner was a bit jazzed about the PS3 and was always bantering with me about how he thought it would be great. He tracked one down a month or two ago at Target, and had it set up in his shop to show off... for about 2 whole days. The following day I asked him where it was, and he sheepishly told me he took it back, it was a dud.

Due in part to the lies and blatant underappreciation of their consumer during the PS3 launch, I am boycotting Sony. Now, I'm also annoyed that nearly every electronic I have bought from them, from DVD-HandyCam to CyberShot Digital Cameras, from audio systems to DVD players - everything I bought that said Sony LIMITED me on how I used it. Proprietary recording formats, proprietary memory cards, unhelpful customer service who were hard to reach (and even harder to believe when they told me I was somehow the only one that had ever had X / Y / Z problem, though message boards were loaded with the issue). I'm sick of the lies. I'm sick of being made Sony's bi*** when I buy from them. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of their cocky attitude. So I'll say it again, and I would love to see you follow in my footsteps and help make a difference. I'm boycotting Sony.
