The main reasons I bought a Wii were Smash Bros. and Mario Kart, and I'm proud to say that I don't regret it.
I say go for it and get the Wii. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the Wii, it's incredibly cool, OH and don't forget that the Wii has Virtual Console! ;)
