Is http://www.systemrequirementslab.com a good way to judge if your comp is capable of running a game? For instance I have a laptop from 2009 that more than meets the "recommended requirements" for some older games yet when I run it them it runs like crap.

Portal for example:

As you can see my laptop more than meets the requirments for Portal yet running it at low settings still gets me an FPS in the mid teens.

Dawn of War, a game from 2004 is another example. Can't even run the game on high with those specs without getting a slideshow.
