@DepressiveMan @SheerMadness84 Yeah, as Depressive said, Journey won Best PSN game. They split that off into its own category. Downloadables don't seem to have been allowed into the "Best PS3/360 Game" categories based on the fact that Journey is nominated here and Far Cry 3 is not. They prefer Journey, it's just listed as a PSN game instead of a PS3 game.

@SheerMadness84 Well, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for Dishonored to lose on 360 and not make it through on PS3, when it was the same nominees with Max Payne tossed in. That means it beat Mass Effect 3, Halo 4, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but it still has SIX MORE COMPETITORS TO BEAT! That's COMPLETELY RAD!

That said...well, this could turn out like a Grammy 2010 situation, where The Black Keys' "Brothers" won Best Rock Album, and yet The Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" (a Best Rock Album nominee) went on to win Album of the Year (which "Brothers" wasn't even nominated for!) In essence, Dishonored might win two major awards, but somehow still lose to ME3 or XCOM. In direct competition with Mark of the Ninja, I could even see that happening quickly and decisively.

I'm not a major fan of Dishonored. It's a great game, but its back third was a little weak. But it's totally a legitimate nominee.

I, for one, commend GameSpot's defiance of expectations. The nominations of Virtue's Last Reward and Spelunky are refreshing; the nomination of five games capturing the independent spirit is a statement, a line in the sand. Something has changed in the tide of the taste wars. Even if I really found myself disappointed in XCOM and Mark of the Ninja, this is a refreshing list that reflects how truly divergent this year has become.

Thank you.

@Vegeta-sama I totally agree that Kinect should be included in every box so Kinect is a more viable development platform next gen. The install base would be much larger, and very few people are simply not going to buy the next Xbox if it comes with Kinect. But Hillary's #10 is "All games must have Kinect Integration," and that's a step too far.

I can't agree about the Kinect On All Games front. That's an EASY way to lose third-party support, seeing as how they'd suddenly have to program a different menu system exclusively for the Xbox 360 every time they wanted to port a game. And, with the growing popularity of Steam and Sony getting another chance to catch up next gen, major games companies could actually afford to sign exclusive deals with Sony in favor of programming Kinect-versions of their games, making Sony the third-party software king.

Kinect On All Games is an easy way to guarantee PS4 as the priority console. The other nine are logical and amiable.

I'm proud not to be a part of any of the co-op stats after I wound up not liking the single player.

The most important part of the article that even the rest of the article at times ignores. "Because of context: Duke mistreats everyone around him. He doesn't care for anyone except himself, regardless of age or sex. He is absurd."

Alice in Wonderland is a poor "dads and grads" selection, although it is still better than Pokémon. I just don't see why on earth you wouldn't put Layton down instead. Meanwhile, other than Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2, I disagree with widely recommending most of these games. God of War III is excellent (but you need to have played the first two beforehand), Dissidia has been pretty divisive from what I've seen and is really only appealing if you've played at least 6 Final Fantasy titles, and I'm not going to even begin to describe how limited the appeal is for Bayonetta, No More Heroes 2, Monster Hunter Tri, and FIFA.

I think I top all of these as James from Team Rocket. Also, why are they leaving out both Eddie AND Mercer's vests? Do they not physically see that they are indeed wearing vests? As for the women thing, not really any distinctive women in gaming this year (other than maybe Chloe from Uncharted.)

I'm sorry, but if the game is unplayable without one of these sticks, then it might be a long time before I put any money into this game.
