Through my life I have had many theories. This is one of my theories on technology.
After having been through 13 years of school, and 6 years of college; I have come to the conclusion that our level of technological progression is unnatural. Now to explain the unnatural progression of our technology, I use biblical references. I personally believe in the Bible, but I am not saying you have to. The main things that I will use to bolster my theory are the great flood, and that most people lived to be in their +500's pre flood. Now if people lived to be hundreds of years old it would stand to reason that they wouldn't live the meager Amish lives that we assume. It stands to reason that they would develop ways to make their lives easier. People have always been two things lazy and violent. Now if there is one positive thing about both of these things is that they tend to lead to technological progression. We develop ways to kill each other quicker and more effectively, and ways to maintain our fields easily while we are doing this.
Now if you take a world where everyone speaks the same language, and everybody lives a really long time(by our standards) they are bound to do some pretty epic things. I would say that if we as a world of people who don't speak the same language, and live maybe 20% of what they did,(if we're lucky) can magically develop technology rapidly over the course of a hundred years or so; then why couldn't people who lived 5 times as long as we did, and all spoke the same language do more.
So now after all that, back to my theory. The people who lived prior to the flood were technologically superior to us. I mean seriously if one man and his family can build a boat that could house 2 of every animal and survive the most brutal natural disaster ever recorded you would think that society on the whole would be pretty advanced. Prior to the flood it was said that there was a canopy over the Earth. It was kind of like a layer of water surrounding the Earth. When the flood occurred this canopy was ruptured and bam a crap ton of water violently and rapidly covers the Earth killing everyone but the one family that saw it coming. The Bible says that God caused it to happen, but I think he just chose not to stop it. I think we caused it. I think that the pre-flood people had the same idea we did to send satellites into space. By sending satellites into space they penetrated the canopy that surrounded the planet. By doing this repeatedly they weakened the canopy to the point where it broke down, and flooded the Earth. Thus all technology, but the satellites sent into space was destroyed. And for some reason Noah decided to make his ark low tech(peace loving hippies if you ask me). So a couple thousand years pass and the orbits of the satellites sent into space decay and they come crashing down. These satellites are found by various nations as they crash, and as they pick apart the pieces they develop technology based on it.
Now your probably saying to yourself wouldn't we know if ancient satellites crashed. Well no of course not you think any nations government is going to want them to know everything they thought they knew was a lie. I would venture to say that the Roswell crash wasn't a UFO, but an ancient satellite; and that this wasn't the first but it was the most salvageable. This satellite now in the hands of people who want to use it for our own benefit allows us to progress rapidly. I would also venture to say that Japan found a similar satellite, but that it crashed in the ocean near them. Since their satellite was less damaged they were able to develop quickly. So rather than go on about the secret technology race that goes on in the background, I'm going to rap up with this.
The reason we have advanced technologically so much in such a little time is because we're not having to completely develop it from the ground up. We have an ancient cheat sheet to copy from.
