Alright thanks everyone for the feedback. The smaller hard drive on the elite isn't really an issue for me considering I don't download that many things on my xbox at all. Also, is it just me or does the Xbox 360 Slim look / feel cheaper than the Xbox 360 Elite? Finally, the reason I'm so concerned with the reliability of the machines is that my second, regular 20GB Xbox has been a victim of the red rings of death. If a third dies I'm basically swearing off Microsoft.

I'm looking to buy a new Xbox. I'm not sure whether to buy the Elite or the Slim. The Elite is 50 dollars cheaper and I have no need for a 250GB Hard Drive and I already have a wireless network adapter. I think I'd be willing to spend the extra money for the Slim only if it is significantly more reliable (in other words, is less prone to crash / overheat) than the Elite. So is it?

willing to put some money on it, TC?Rakuho

lol no way. I don't put down money on things unless I'm sure about them, and I'm far from sure about the prediction I madein this topic. And to Nonstop-Madness, I followed the link you posted and you did essentially predict what I just did. Fair enough man, I agree with you 100%! Sorry if I didn't look into the legitimacy of the "heard it hear" thing. Yea, some people (like Brian Crescente, of Kotaku) don't believe that game companies should make too many big announcements at once, but I think Sony could make an absolutely awesome impactby announcing a re-design of and a price drop for the PS3 along with a new PSP with killer software. You heard it hear first folks. lol jk.

Well, it's definitely a subjective thing. I understand where you're coming from.

There are many games out there which have an average score below 90 or so which I enjoy. I never said otherwise. Also, I did refer to Fallout 3 as a AAA game (at one point I even said it was the most recent AAA game I could remember). Not only that, but I never said a AAA game absolutely had to have an average review score of 95 or above. What I wrote is this: "a AAA game is virtually always one whose average review score is very near to 95 or above". This means that the games I consider to be AAA tend to have very high average scores.

SolidSnake - According to Metacritic, the average score for Halo 3 as well as MGS4 is 94 while that of Fallout 3 (on Xbox 360) is 93. As these numbers are, in fact, "very near to 95", they do satisfy my criteria for a AAA game. I understand that my definition of a AAA game may be different than others, but I never said my idea of AAA games are the only ones I play, I basically just stated that I want one right now more than usual. Jeez...

Well, I think I should clarify what I think is a AAA game. I believe a AAA game is virtually always one whose average review score is very near to 95 or above. Gears of War 2 does satisfy that criteria, but it came out in early November, about a week after Fallout 3. Those games each came out last holiday season and now, like I wrote before, I'm probably going to have to wait until next holiday season to see the release of some new AAA games. Also, I don't think a AAA game always has to be a killer app. Just look at Wii Sports. Totally a killer app for the Wii but by no means is it a AAA game, at least by traditional standards/my definition of a AAA game.

Yea, there are definitely some good games out/coming out soon. To name a few: inFamous, Killzone 2, and Street Fighter IV. Yet, these are all more like AA or just A games. Obviously, though, I think these would not be enjoyed as much as an upcoming AAA game, such as Starcraft II or Final Fantasy XIII. Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if AAA games are now bound to only be released during a short window of time (the holiday season) considering the incredible growth and potential of the casual gaming market, which seems perfectly contented with games that are fun, social, but by no means require the time, energy, or money put into a AAA game.

I feel like I haven't witnessed the release of a true AAA game the likes of MGS4 or Halo3 for around 8 months (when Fallout 3 came out). Not only that, but I don't even like Fallout 3 that much and I hesitate to call it a AAA video-game. So, it's been at least 3/4 of a year since a AAA game came out! Not only that, but I doubt I'll see a AAA game arrive on store shelves again until this upcoming holiday season. After all, the AAA games of the future will, in all liklihood, be announced at E3 next month, meaning they probably will not arrive soon afterwards. Am I the only one who is frustrated about this? Though, if someone can think of a killer, "AAA"game that is coming out soon which I have not thought of, I'd love to know.
