Christmas TV catchup

We're not about to complain about a job that pays us to watch and talk about TV. But the fact is that sometimes the TV we have to watch overtakes the TV we watch just for fun. So for us, one of the extra gifts of the holidays is the scarcity of new TV. It gives us a little time to catch up on the shows that have fallen victim to the time crunch of the fall season (in addition to giving us some time to start in on midseason shows). Some of what we'll be catching up on -- either on the DVR, on demand or online -- is below. Let us know which backlogs you plan on clearing in the comments. "Boardwalk Empire DVD": We're about halfway through the season of HBO's great new drama -- and totally hooked. But circumstances conspired against watching several episodes in the back half of the show's run; this is probably No. 1 in the queue for after Christmas. "Supernatural DVD": For some reason, "Supernatural DVD" has always been a show that piles up on the DVR and then gets cleared out in a couple of marathon sessions. The show's move to Fridays has only exacerbated that problem, leaving a bigger backlog than usual at this time of year. "Detroit 1-8-7": In a lean year for quality new series, "Detroit 1-8-7" has emerged as one of the better shows the broadcast networks have to offer. Unfortunately, that hasn't kept it from stacking up on the DVR. We plan to rectify that somewhat before the year is out. "The Big Bang Theory DVD": This will be the easiest bit of catchup -- only a handful of episodes missed here and there. Within a couple of hours, we'll be all square with Sheldon, Leonard and Co More at http://www.collectcheaps.com/news/1399-Christmas-TV-catchup.html

'Gretas' Isaiah Mustafa and Stacy Keibler return in March of Tv Series Chuck

We've known for a while that "Chuck DVD " would be bringing back two of the actors who played "Greta" earlier this season. Now we know exactly when. Isaiah Mustafa and Stacy Keibler will have a return engagement as Gretas Nos. 2 and 3 in the March 14 episode, NBC says. The episode is called "Chuck DVD vs. the A-Team," and in it, Chuck DVD (Zachary Levi) worries that the Gretas are so perfect that they'll make him and his occasionally malfunctioning Intersect obsolete. Also in the episode, Chuck DVD and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) suspect that Casey (Adam Baldwin) may have gone rogue, and they investigate. You'll also see returning guest star Robin Givens as Jane Bentley, the woman who offered Casey a new gig at the end of "Chuck DVD vs. the Masquerade." "Chuck DVD " creators Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz promised us earlier this month that the "shameless stunt casting" of the Gretas would have a payoff. We don't know exactly what that is yet, but we're going to enter the realm of pure speculation here and posit the following theory: What if the job Bentley has offered Casey is to be the team leader of Project Greta? The pieces would seem to fit: Bentley and her project made some major add-ons to Castle in the last episode. Two previously seen Gretas are coming back into the story just as Casey considers a new assignment -- which, Bentley says, will let Casey put his training to greater use than on Team Chuck DVD . We could be (and often are) 180 degrees off in our "Chuck" theorizing, but it feels like a logical place for the story to go. http://www.collectcheaps.com/news/1417-Gretas-Isaiah-Mustafa-and-Stacy-Keibler-return-in-March-of-Tv-Series-Chuck.html
