The Speed Gamers take on Castlevania this Halloween

So... The Speed Gamers. Awesome bunch. They play games for charity and doesn't afraid of anything. This time, its a Halloween bash with Castlevania games. Not only that but there's also going to be some contests and I know the TSG staff will be dressed up in their crazy Halloween costumes that were chosen by donators at the Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed Marathon.

This is what they have posted on their website as far as details of when and what games are being played (and a brief bit of info about TSG themselves). So far it looks like the charity isn't 100% set in stone yet, but everything else is.

The upcoming Castlevania Marathon starts October 29th at 6:00PM Central and will run for 2 days (48 Hours). We will be playing through a lot of the Castlevania games while raising money for charity.

TheSpeedGamers have been streaming video game marathons for over a year to raise money for various charities. In total they have raised over $235,000 dollars and played 19 marathons. They have raised over $57,000 in their week long Mario Marathon, and have made multiple news appearances.

During the marathon we will have be dressing up in costumes, holding multiple contests to win various prizes and much more. Some of the prizes are contributed by TheSpeedGamers' gracious community members.

Planned Games:

  • Symphony of the Night
  • Super Castlevania
  • Simon's Quest
  • Rebirth
  • Lament of Innocence
  • Harmony of Dissonance
  • Castlevania 64
  • Lords of Shadow
  • Portrait of Ruin
  • Aria of Sorrow
  • Harmony of Despair

There you have it. The only thing that isn't listed there is where to go, and that's a simple answer: http://www.thespeedgamers.com

See you there, hopefully!

The Speed Gamers do a Prince of Persia & Assassin's Creed marathon

The Speed Gamers are at it again, but this time they are, for the first time, combining two series, that on their own are too short for a marathon, into one marathon. Starting August 20, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. CDT you can head on over to http://www.thespeedgamers.comto begin watching them play these two awesome action series in order to raise money for the Gulf Restoration Network. There will be prizes and crazy antics as always so make sure you're there!

The Speed Gamers take on Mario for a week

Starting June 11, 2010 at 6 P.M. CDT, The Speed Gamers will begin a week long marathon of everything you can imagine with Mario in the name of raising donations for ACT Today. As usual, there will be a chat you can participate in, commentators doing crazy things to get people to donate, and prizes to be had. Apparently there's also a Fangamer sponsorship this time just like with the MOTHER marathon earlier this month, where all the proceeds for a new shirt went to the charity.

The Speed Gamers MOTHER Marathon

On May 7-9, starting at 6:00 P.M. CDT, The Speed Gamers will begin a 48 hour MOTHER, better known outside Japan as EarthBound, Marathon to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This is my personal favorite video game series of all time and am excited for just that. However, there's more than that in store for anyone who watches. There will be prizes to be obtained - and if this one turns out anything like last year's MOTHER marathon, there might be some awesome Fangamer swag to be won.

In addition to that, I think that Chuggaconroy might be doing the EarthBound run again this year, but don't hold me to that one - that's an assumption on my part.

Just make sure you show up at http://www.thespeedgamers.com on the 7th of May and you can join in on the fun.

The Speed Gamers Metroid Marathon

It's that time again - time for another TSG Marathon! This time The Speed Gamers are challening the Metroid series in a 72 hour long marathon to raise money for HAFS, which is Halton Autistic Family Support Group. The where is The Speed Gamers' website and the time is March 12, 2010 (that's this Friday) starting at 6:00 P.M. CST going through Monday. Be sure to come out and watch the gaming and donate, and enjoy the chat and the guaranteed-to-be-zany commentating!

Gamers Gaming for Good is raising money to help out in Haiti

So there was an earthquake in Haiti that really did some damage and Gamers Gaming for Good, which is comprised of a lot of the community members from TSG, have a stream going right now at http://gamersgamingforgood.com/ where they are playing various games such as A Link to the Past, Mega Man X3, and Yoshi's Island, for donations to World Vision to go towards the disaster relief in Haiti. Come on out, watch some games, enjoy some crazy commentary, and donate to help Haiti. Every little bit will help.

The Speed Gamers' Pokemon Gotta Catch 'Em All Marathon

Anyone who keeps in close contact with me knows I've been really into The Speed Gamers for about a year now. This is my first time posting a blog about it on my GameSpot profile, but more will come, I'm sure. I have plenty of friends on here and I hope enough of you guys read this and come watch the marathons. They do all sorts of interesting games, such as EarthBound/MOTHER, Zelda, Resident Evil - and this time it's Pokemon, they will be attempting to catch all 493 Pokemon, legitimately, and get them all onto one cart in 72 hours, and then I think that cart gets given away as a prize, but I'm not sure on that. The cool thing about these marathons is that they always do them for a good cause and they usually have a commentator doing some CRAAAAZY things to earn donations. This time the charity is Allys House, which is a charity based in Oklahoma (I think...) that helps families of children with cancer.

Anyone who's interested in watching head on over to http://www.thespeedgamers.com on December 18th at 6:00 P.M. CST.

Killing Liches, Ninjars and Gods - I'm such a bad ass.

The Flameseeker Prophecies are complete. I have returned the Betrayer to the land of the dead. Night has fallen and passed to see the birth of a new God of Secrets. The Great Dwarf and the Great Destroyer have seen their legendary show down. I have finally completed the story line of all 3 campaigns and the expansion for Guild Wars with my Ritualist. Of course it was only on normal mode, but it's really about damn time. My account is about a month younger than the oldest accounts and just recently finished Nightfall. I finished Eye of the North only a few weeks prior to Nightfall. Prophecies I beat back in November of '07 and Factions I beat back in September of '06.

I made lots of gold, got a full guild hall, 2 sets of elite armor on 2 different characters, 3 level 20 characters, and had lots of frustration doing bonuses in Prophecies along the way, and I will say, its been fun over all. Now I get to do it all again on Hard Mode and hone my PVP skillz while I wait for Guild Wars 2.

Noble Quest of the Onion Knight

So I beat Final Fantasy III and I want that nice crap from the Legendary Blacksmith. I already got one item thanks to my buddy, Kainhellblade, that I play FFXI with. He mastered Warrior and sent me a letter and said, "Hey try this!" So I did and now I have a Gigantic Axe. He said he'd send me a letter with his Master Monk title tomorrow so I guess I'll get that too. Bur right now I'm focusing on my guys so I can get the legendary Onion Blade! -insert fanfare here-

Ok, so maybe not that legendary. But right now my peeps are at the following stats:

Lothis (Luneth) Level 55 Black Belt 14 HP 2880
Dervec (Arc) Level 54 Black Belt 13 HP 2935
Bio (Refia) Level 55 Black Belt 13 HP 2933
Mopar (Ingus) Level 54 Black Belt 12 2762

In addition to that, Lothis is Freelancer 14, Black Mage 49, Thief 2, Dragoon 11, Magus 4, and Summoner 25; Dervec is Freelancer 7, Warrior 18, Knight 13, Dark Knight 63; Bio is Freelancer 7, White Mage 52, Devout 26; and finally Mopar is Freelancer 7, Red Mage 30, Scholar 11, Dragoon 26, Ninja 35

I sometimes think its a bit of a lofty quest to go for 99 in everything. But I dismiss such a notion so I can concentrate on my HP leveling. I'm hoping I haven't waited too long to switch to Black Belts to get 9999 HP by level 99. After that I can switch to my original jobs and go to the ??? Cave to farm me some Onion Gear... (fun)
