PS3 unimpressions

Yesterday Sony showed off the PS3 in Akihabara , Japan as part of a week long gaming/anime ... i happen to be here so i didn`t want to miss it... here are my impressions The setup: B+ Each game section had 4, 42 inch(u think ) bravias with on control per unit , no multi player games were demoed though it looked like maybe gundam might have been running in multiplayer...i`m not sure cause that`s on i didn`t check out because it had the longest lines... which was only about 6 people not including the four playing.. but i was on a time limit...one section was video only but u got to choose what you watched and got some headsets to get the full audio experience... another area i didn`t try because i was there to play ... but from what i saw while in line... videos of MGS 4 (the one most watched) Devil may Cry 4, Ninja Gaiden , and a bunch of others but those where the most watched...my only gripes is that there was no playable DMC 4, Biohazard or MGS 4... The Games: GT HD: D-...looks pretty, but not blow u away cause it looks like a real car pretty... just nice.... reflections off the cars and lighting are well done but nothing that can`t be done on a 360... and it fealt funny crashing into the rails without the rumble... Resistance fall of man: C+ alright... the controls with the Dual..sh..i mean sixaxis were better then i thought they`d be .. and the graphics looked nice ... but the gameplay was cookie cutter shooter... i was hoping to see more variety in the animation and AI ... but it just fealt like a been there done that deal and i didn`t feel compelled to hold onto the controller longer then the 10 minutes they let me have with it...i hope the story is good cause right now it seems like someone said "lets cross Call of duty 2 with Halo... " again i miss the rumble.. Lair: A+ the best game of the show and the only one i played that actually used the movement feature.. . and it felt very smooth... even early on when i was jerking the controller around like i was trying to hook a fish repeatedly... Heavenly sword B+... game was actually really fun and showed some good variety in animations the demo was a simple arena area where you take on a bunch of people at once and then fight a boss but i had a great time smashing tables and throwing objects at enemies.... though it was funny cause no one was in line to play it ... Genji: A... this game was a nice take on the whole Dynasty warriors type genre as it gave you variety of moves and 3 swappable characters... a lighting fast dual blade wielding samurai whom i think they should have based the game around him only... the motion blur when he attacks is uber cool , and he can jump on the heads of enemies to get out of tight situations or add some coolness to his combos... a huge giant SoB that wields what looks like a metal pillar which can be used to break barriers as well as backs... and a chick with a circular blade on a rope that can be used as a grappling hook.... the samurai controls the best and i had a good time with it... especially since the girl monitoring this section was cheering me on... Motor storm... B: i was looking foward to this game cause it looked like fun and just looked pretty... but when i played it i decided to put it to the test and use motorcycles and while it wasn`t the worst motorcycle video game experience, it certainly wasn`t the best... with a little tweaking it could be a lot more fun... so there is a lot of potential ... the damage effects were cool... and my rider getting covered in mud was pretty sweet too... as long as they put in a wide variety of tracks it should be fun.... now if they added machine guns and missile launchers... we`re talking game of the year.. bit on the easy side but it was nice that the 4 times my bike blew up didn`t stop me from almost coming first Overall: it was great for me cause cause the lines were short and the longest i had to wait to play was like 15 minutes.. but it was kind of sad for sony as people didn`t seem very anxious to play it .. there was one long line there but it was for some manga book being given away... the rest of electric city was buzzing... i saw more people in a used game store down the road then at the event....on top of that none of the games looked as good as the in game footage i`ve seen of Gears of war or Mass Effect.... and if sony receives this type of greeting in a city where stores dedicate entire floors to the PS2 .... plus the fact that 360 is actually starting to sell here.. then they are gonna have a tough launch...
