The system looks "ok", but unless the majority of the games look/are more then "ok" , it still will go the sad way of the Wii -> mostly casual and no real 3rd party core gamer games.

I really do like the "screenpad"; I can play a game while my GF watches TV or vice versa. That removes a hurdle that caused a lot of problems in the past.

There are 2 issues: First is the one with people willing to sell items for real life currencies, but not buy items for real life currencies. When the news about the Diablo 3 auction house came out, people on the D3/WoW/B.net forums immediatly went with the idea of selling items in D3 and using the cash they earned as payment for WoW. Now the thing is, if people try to sell items, but they are not bought, prices will drop and a part of the community will feel bad for not earning the price they think items are worth; the oposite is also true -> items can be found by luck, and earn some people 50 bucks a day, eventhough they expected 5 bucks. BUT, and this is where is second issue lies; namely the "supply & demand" system -> Blizzard can up or lower the droprate of items whenever they want; creating a harder market with higher prices for some items, and with it, they can earn more cash by just changing a drop rate. I am therefore extremely sceptical about this system; Blizzard has to large a power to influence the market, and the total payout and with it their profit.
