Hi. I'm finally making the jump and buying an HDTV. I have spent a lot of time researching, and I've found that Samsung is one of the best brands right now, especially with the gaming mode. I think they're quality and provide value.
So I'm looking at buying theSamsung LN40A550 from Amazon.com. It's 40", 1080p, 30:000 contrast ratio, and 5 ms response time. Both Best Buy and Circuit City are selling it at $1350, reduced from $1500.
Amazon.com is selling it at $1100 with free shipping. What do you guys think? Is this a good deal? Also, I've never bought anything from Amazon before, but I don't want to have my money stolen. Is this safe? (the seller is Amazon, not some third party) Or should I buy it from Circuit City to make sure nobody steals my money or identity?
I want the TV mainly for gaming (360), but I might use it for movies if I ever buy a PS3. I'm concerned because I'm still in high school, but I'll graduate and go to a college dorm next year. Is 40" too big of a TV for a dorm, or is that size the sweet spot? I don't know how big dorms usually are.
Last, but not least, do you think I should wait until Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) to try to get a deal on it or wait until then to see if the price has dropped? Do you think prices will go down significantly once laser TVs come out this year? Is it worth the wait to find out?
By the way, I live in the US. Any help or input is really appreciated. Don't feel you have to answer all questions, just whatever you feel like. Thanks.
My Halo 2 disk actually got so banged up that I could get loading screens once in awhile. It sucked... just a black/dark blue screen with "Loading X%" in white letters.SpaceMatt
The same thing happened to my Halo 2 disk.
Your opinion is not a popular one. The only thing Gears has is good "technical" graphics. I prefer the art style of Halo to the dark, "gritty" one of Gears. I think Gears sucks compared to Halo, which is why I sold it in one week after finishing the single player, yet I still play Halo 2.
