Clone Wars

The Clone Wars can't come fast enough for me. I am so psyched for another Star Wars movie.

American Gangster

Today I saw American Gangster. Since hearing about this movie I have been quite excited. First of all, I like Ridley Scott as a director very much. His film's Black Hawk Down and Gladiator are amongst my favorite. So naturally, when I heard about this movie my expectations were high. I am pleased to report that after watching it my expectations have been met. Both Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe put on a dazzling performance, giving depth to their characters. I think the movie did a good job of showing the gradual influx of drugs into our country during the 60's and 70's. The film dealt in many areas but I felt that it wasn't too stretched. In the end I had a blast watching this movie. For me, it's right up there with Scar face and The Godfather. If you like Gangster movies I highly recommend this one.

300 is enough for me!

When I first heard that Frank Miller’s comic “300” was being adapted into a film I was immediately satisfied. I loved the comics and the individual flair Frank brought to such an epic tale. The artwork was truly fascinating. So when I thought of 300 as a movie I knew the art direction would play an important role in the film I day dreamed about full scale battles and top notch special effects. It seems like I wasn’t far off either. It seems 300 is taking its advice from sin city. The entire movie is acted out behind a green screen. I was impressed with the footage I saw in the trailer. It felt like “Frank Miller’s” 300, not just another movie with that title. To me it seems that the virtual background gives the movie a more comic book-like appearance. It definitely adds to the films overall appeal. Now since the movie hasn’t come out yet, I could be wrong (sometimes I am) but as of now I am looking forward to 300. Just imagine 300 Spartans locked in combat with the entire Persian army. Imagine the heroism and the epic danger. It sounds good to me. What about you?
