Seriously, coolers ARE NOT NEEDED for PS3s. People just need to TAKE BETTER CARE of their system.

Amster_G
that is true PS3's have a better airflow then most systems, but they do get dusty the most because of the insaficiant air intake. the reason i thought and done this is because i was tired of hot air coming out of my ps3 (plus its in a confined space) and to have a better way of cleaning the dust out with out taking it apart. ive noticed now when i have done this no hot air comes out of my ps3 only cool or warm air, if your electronics stay cooler then they should last longer right.

its a 65gb ssd going at 200mb read and 150mb write by super talent MLC nand flash at sata 2.0 (3GBs per sec). its fast when loading games and maps from the SSD but alot of games still load from the blueray drive which almost makes it a wast of money to get one untill the ps3 has the ablity to run games from the hard drive like xbox does. i paid around 200 for it.

[QUOTE="MOK5"]i have a extra body just in case it happens (i fix ps3, and have a bundence of parts). and i have 3 ps3, so i can afford to do so. the next experiment i am trying out is putting a ps3's hardware in a nice led pc case with liquid cooling.PvtGump8

Forget liquid cooling, go with mineral oil submersion, much cooler IMO. Plus you get bubbles!

that is true i was considering it at first. but then again i wanted a nice computer led case. with a mineral oil case it wouldnt look as nice.

well my industrale press wasnt working at the time

You don't need an industrial press to make a clean cut.. Use a dremel to flatten out what you have so far and then melt the rough edges for a split second with a butane lighter.. Cheap simple and relatively efficient.

i did use a dremel, since sony uses crappy plastic its hard to cut/grind big holes. to get the cleannest cut a press cutter is the best and cleanest way. any ways im putting thing black weather stripping around the edges since everybody is complaining.

what i did was cut out the exaust cages for all 3 exaust ports and made a CD size hole on the bottom of the PS3 for the intake. now my ps3 exaust warm air instade of really hot air, sometimes cool air. here is some pics. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x179/MOK5/PS3extraframing.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x179/MOK5/ps3back.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x179/MOK5/ps3bottem.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x179/MOK5/ps3rightside.jpg
