Actually might just be because of your gamertag. I would try recovering a new copy of the account to see if that fixes the problem. If not, try asking Microsoft in the support section of Xbox.com.
Either you lost/dont have connection to internet. or security/firewall is set to high on router (go to port settings and open some ports. google which ones to open.)
When I am watching a movie by myself I will watch it on my monitor in my bedroom off my Xbox using my Turtle Beaches but if friends are over I'm on the 46' Bravia using the PS3 :D
