As long as you keep the console in a good place it will be fine which means enough room to breathe.

Was the console moved/nudged while playing? movement of the console while playing a game will scratch a disk.

I didn't care too much for the multiplayer it was the single player/co-op i had a ton of fun with, i just wish it would have been a longer single player, i love playing the a.i in that game because with the difficulty up some the A.I will make you work to win a battle.

I'm not saying that Achievements aren't a good thing. They're without a doubt a good thing because replay value is increased for those that like to be competitive. However, I think, for PS3-only gamers Trophies are fairly low on the list of wants in comparison to something like Rumble or Backwards compatibility. 360 gamers probably are more concerned about Achievements becuase they are, in general, more competitive. It may be an advantage for Microsoft but probably not that big of an advantage. Because those that are competitive enough to really care about Achievements (and online gaming) are going to get a 360 anyways because of XBL (I'm sure they're willing to pay for a superior service if they're the competitive type).

I think Sony should bring trophies to the PS3, if they didn't however I just don't think most PS3 gamers would be that upset. Myself, I wouldn't care at all.

Ok i see more what you are saying now and i completely agree with you basically trophies and stuff would be cool but its nothing to obsess over nothing that would make or break the system and i completely agree with that. For me personally achievements are just what they are something to give you more of a sense of achievement.

Ok, this has been argued over since Microsoft announced the acheivement system way back when. So let me ask you PS3 fanboys, if they are so dumb...why is Sony copying them?

Ponder that one for a second, the answer might not be as obvious as you think...

Heres a little something I've noticed since I've had my 360 and my PS3. On my 360 I'm WAY more willing to try cheap and off the wall games because at the very least I will get some points out of them...

Make fun of me, call me a non-gamer, whatever you want...but I have played games on my 360 that I would have NEVER touched if there weren't points attached to it. And most of the time I payed for those games in some form or another, that money goes back to the publisher, who makes more games for the 360, some of them could end up being truly great...

You wanna know why support for the PS3 is lacking? People don't just go crazy and buy every game for it like they do the 360. Even if they just rent games, services like Gamefly have a set number of copies of a game to give out. As more people rent the game for points/entertainment or whatever they want, they order more copies because the game is popular. Acheivements single handedly propel game sales up a few thousand units at least. Of course, somebody will come on here and say: "A few thousand units?! That doesn't matter!" To which you just have to shake your head and sigh...

Case in point, would any of you suffer through Lair just to see what happens? Sure, some of you might, but honestly, most of the gaming population has looked past that game, myself included. Yet I have watched a friend play through the entirety of Vampire Rain (go ahead, look it up, its worse than Lair) multiple times for points. That same friend read reviews about Hour of Victory, thought: "What the hell," rented it, and ended up loving it and purchasing the game the next week. Half of the problem when purchasing games for my 360 is that there are so many games out there I want to try knowing that even if I hate it, I'll get something for my money...it makes buying a game so much nicer when you are gaurenteed to like at least something about it.

So go on ahead and pretend that Microsoft's idea sucks, but Sony isn't pretending, the Trophy system will function more or less just like an acheivement system and will hopefully add the exact same element to their games as acheivements did for Microsoft's.

What you're forgetting is that PS3 gamers aren't the same as 360 gamers. 360 gamers are almost always more interested in competition (hence the focus on online gaming through XBL). Trophies really won't be an impetus for us to play more if we don't care about the having the trophies in the first place.

LOL man a gamer is a gamer, you take a gamer who likes gaming put them in a competative situation and they will be aggressive. Most competitions between 2 people or whatever is that way sports or whatever. The thing that the achievements nail is anyone can get enjoyment out of it for whatever games you like or enjoy as the poster you were replying to proved even on horrible games. Point being most gamers are about the same yah there are some jerks out there and that applies to anything and everything to be honest.

Really? Myself I've played online maybe twice. Online play just doesn't appeal to me. There's obviously a difference between someone who's obsessed with Halo & Madden multiplayer and someone who plays the newest Final Fantasy for 10 hours straight. I think there's plenty of PS3 gamers like me who aren't really interested in competitive play that much. I really haven't seen any great demand for Trophies among PS3 gamers. In fact this thread is the first time I've ever heard anyone mention them since E3 when Home was delayed.

There are plenty on the 360 who aren't obsessed with games being online as well. Not saying that every gamer wants to play online but was just commenting on that aggressiveness since that happens with most people in any type of competition gaming or non gaming. Well the thing is everyone thought the whole achievements thing before the 360 launch sounded stupid well me and a few of my friends and if i'm not mistaken everyone was just kinda like eh that sounds dumb. Then look what happened with them. If you care for it or not you can't argue that the Trophies system wouldn't add value to the ps3. To most 360 owners imo its not about bragging rights or showing off its just a way to add value to the games they buy and the services they are using.

btw i hope i don't sound like a crazed 360 fan here because i do have a wii and just got my ps3 yesterday.

Achievments are pointless

I don't see what is the big deal

SolidSnake2020

So is getting the high score in an arcade game. Its just another way to get a sense of accomplishment from a game and to make you try to challenge yourself to play different ways. Its not about the points its about accomplishing more than usual. Its just a nice touch. An example of that is i beat call of duty 2 there were more achievements for completing on the hardest difficulty, i did that and have the achievements to show for it. Makes you try to play games in different ways and all that its actually pretty cool unless you experience it though it just looks stupid i know.
