NBA Live 07...finished!

Here is the last achievement that I got when I borrowed (2) controllers from a guy @ work, who was kind enough to let me use them for a night.
Here is the last achievement:

Four users on one machine
Play and finish a game with four users on the same machine (2 players on each team)
50 Acquired 2/28/2007
Now I have a "Holy Grail" type of game where I have all 1K achievement pts!
Since the guy @ work made this possible, I lent him King Kong to play, since I am also a nice guy :)

NBA Live 07 Online with 1,000 people and more...

First off this entry is late, esp. regarding the organized event for the 1000 people online @ the same time achievement for this game. This is all in retrospect but I will add of the necessary information and observations while playing this game...

Here was the event:

Here's the achievement:

Online with 1,000 people
Be online when there are 1,000 people online at the same time
100
Acquired 2/25/2007

Notes: This achievement was made possible by my favorite Xbox 360 site, x360a.org and it was possible to get from about 2:45 PM EST until about 3:15 PM EST, give or take a few minutes. I created a new GT, FlyersXBox360 to help others get this achievement as well. I was in an x360a lobby from about 2:30 PM EST until 6:00 PM EST. And for my efforts, I was given an "official" site award:

I also got the other online achievements the same day:

Online Multiplayer Co-op
Finish a multiplayer Co-op online game with at least one friend against two or more users
100
Acquired 2/25/2007

Note: My boy, Jdm7399 hooked me up by playing a co-op game where we both connected (2) controllers and finished the game.

Play and finish a Ranked match
Play and finish a normal ranked match against any opponent.
50
Acquired 2/25/2007

Challenge an online user/Ranked
Challenge an online user to a Ranked game and finish this game
100
Acquired 2/25/2007

Notes: This one took me (3) games as the 1st (2) games both quit in the 4th qtr with a silly msg saying that I lost my connection w/ the EA servers and all that I could do was hit 'A' to quit, nice! One of the players, denver fan 06, sent me a nasty msg that I could have bad repped him on but I never do that and still haven't. So, I replied back with a msg that I was just after the achievement and would not quit the game as I never do that either and why would I when I just wanted to finish the game for it to count. On my 3rd attempt, I met a great gamer girl, Abeyta23, who helped me finish the game early by running out the clock by hanging onto the ball and letting me do the same. Basically, the EA servers are crap and we are all lucky that they could handle all of us being online at the same time for the 1K...

I got the rest of the player achievements the same day and the rest yesterday, here they are (in order of receiving them):

Perform Level 3 Shooter Move
Successfully Perform at least one Level 3 SHOOTER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
50
Acquired 2/25/2007

50
Acquired 2/25/2007

Perform Level 3 Scorer Move
Successfully Perform at least one Level 3 SCORER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
50
Acquired 2/25/2007

Perform Level 3 Playmaker Move
Successfully Perform at least one Level 3 PLAYMAKER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
50
Acquired 2/26/2007

Perform Level 3 Post Move
Successfully Perform at least one Level 3 POST SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
50
Acquired 2/26/2007

Notes on the Level 3 achs: Make sure that the player you are using to get these with has this ability selected which can be done by holding LB and tapping RB, to cycle through their list, located surrounding their circle HUD. So, just select the ability and keep it that way until you get the achievement with the player which can be done by holding LB and rotating the Right analog stick clockwise (half-turn for lvl 3). As you can see these two were the hardest for me in lvl 3 but the easiest for "In the Zone", go figure...

In The Zone Playmaker Move
Successfully Perform at least one In the Zone PLAYMAKER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
70
Acquired 2/26/2007

In The Zone Post Move
Successfully Perform at least one In the Zone POST SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
70
Acquired 2/26/2007

In The Zone Shooter Move
Successfully Perform at least one In the Zone SHOOTER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
70
Acquired 2/26/2007

In The Zone High Flyer Move
Successfully Perform at least one In the Zone HIGH FLYER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
70
Acquired 2/27/2007

In The Zone Scorer Move
Successfully Perform at least one In the Zone SCORER SUPERSTAR move in a game session.
70
Acquired 2/27/2007

Notes on the In The Zone achs: They all came pretty fast, once you pick the right team (West Conference All-Stars) and the right players, Nash (Playmaker, Shooter), Ming (Post), McGrady (High Flyer), except for the last one which I finally got well over an hour later with Kobe (Scorer). What finally worked for the Scorer was start at the top of the foul line inside of the arc in the colored area. I had previously made this move with McGrady and Kobe but from different areas in the paint and I just wouldn't get the achievement, so I tried it higher up just once and it worked! To get "In The Zone" you need to make baskets, block shots, steal and rebound while limiting your opponents pts in the process. If you go on say a 12-2 run you will get your players, "In The Zone"...

Final Notes: All in all the Event on Sunday 2/25 was a success, even if that success didn't last that long. The problem was that a lot of gamers logged off when they received their achievement, which made it difficult for others to get theirs. I was able to get the achievement on both of my IDs and it is the only one that I will probably have on my other one, FlyersXBox360 for a while...unless my wife takes up gaming instead of bothering me about it ;)

So, I end up with 950/1000 GPs because the last one involves having (4) controllers attached to the same machine and I currently only own (2), so unless I can find some laying around somewhere I am stuck here...

100 % Completed!

Here is my new & updated list of games that I have completed 100% of the Achievements on, in order:
  1. NBA 2K6
  2. Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie
  3. College Hoops 2K6
  4. Madden NFL 06
The basketball games, NBA 2K6 & College Hoops 2K6 took only a few games each to get all of the achievements whereas the other two, Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie (took 2 days, few hrs each day) & Madden NFL 06 (took only 1 day but I was my own worst enemy). I enjoyed playing Kong more than most people did but I am glad that it is over and it had a few spots that took a little bit to get around, all in all it wasn't a bad game. I got most of the Madden 06 achievements in 1 game except for the Super Bowl and 30 Franchise seasons which both took longer than expected to make up for the rest I got in 1 game...I didn't save my 1st Franchise season as I blew through it as my Steelers and paid the price as the game froze up on me with less than a min. to go in the 4th qtr of the Super Bowl, so I had to go back and replay the games leading up to the SB and I picked the Eagles this time as they seemed to always make it there or close to it...For the 30 yrs, if this hadn't been worth so many GPs (400) then I probably would have given up as it took me until 2 am to finally sim my way to 30 seasons as the Eagles...

So, I have 4 completed games out of the 10 that I have played so far, so not a bad % (40) and I don't know how many others I will finish all the way. Gears for instance looks impossible for me to get past 950 as 10K kills is just too much for me to get...

Live Arcade Games and Xbox Live Vision

To start my console came with Hexic HD. I have recently been playing this to get some achievements and I am up to 40/200, which isn't too bad considering some of these are time consuming. The last one I got was:

Survivalist
Beat Survival
15
Acquired 2/18/2007

It took me 2 tries only because I loaded a game while I was at level 48/50 which caused me to lose all of my progress. So please save your games before inserting a disc...
The next one that I got was Bankshot Billiards 2 w/ my 1st 12-mo. Gold sub. I know I have (4) but I can't think of the other title, so I will update this entry when I get a chance...I just recently got Uno which came with my 2nd Gold sub. that I bought to get the Xbox Live Vision camera on Ebay...Here is the reason why I bought it:

True Identity
Used the Xbox Live Vision to create a character with your appearance
30
Acquired 2/7/2007

It worked pretty well but took a couple of tries to get all of the angles correct during the captures. The Live Vision will also be useful when playing Uno.

So here is my new current game playing order (subject to change):
1. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Done; MP; 290 A)
2. Gears of War (Done; Insane/Co-op/MP; 370 A)
3. Need for Speed Carbon (Done; MP; 630 A)

5. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent (UO)

Games and more Games...

I added a few new games since the new year, they are College Hoops 2K6, Condemned: Criminal Origins and Prey.
In the past week I have gotten 100% Achievements on both College Hoops 2K6 & Madden NFL 06. I just stayed up last night until 2 AM simulating 30 franchise seasons of Madden 06 to get the 400 GPs.
I just submitted a review for Need for Speed Carbon today which I think is a great game that will appeal to many racing fans.

Happy New Year!!!

I know we are a few weeks in but it is still a new year...

I have some more games that I bought with $ that I made in winning the Fantasy Football League that I run online with former co-workers here in Rochester, NY. It is my 3rd title in 9 yrs of existence, tying the record held by a former league team. It feels so good to beat them esp. since they all are rooting against me and trying to beat me but they still can't...better luck next year boys when I go for my 4th title! Our league is meeting this Wednesday @ a local bar to wrap up the season and award the trophy to yours truly! The stars of my team were Steven Jackson, RB Rams, Michael Vick, QB Falcons and Robbie Gould PK Bears and last but not least my Pittsburgh Steelers Defense / Special Teams. I also got to beat my former boss all (3) times I faced him this season which gave me the regular season division title since we had identical records and then I beat him again in the playoffs. What a great year!

The games I bought with my $ were a pre-order of Halo 3 Collector's Edition, Need for Speed Most Wanted, The Godfather and Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. I went for the pre-order of Halo 3 on BestBuy.com with 1600 MS pts for $4.99. The other games I went for quanity as I got NFSMW for $29.99, The Godfather for $35.99 (10% off @ BB) and King Kong for $19.99 @ EB. I also previously pre-ordered Forza Motorsport 2 to add to my growing list of driving game titles, now @ 5, not incl. the BK games.

With these games, I now have a bunch of EA titles, this was not by design but just worked out this way. I have (6) total, (2) Sports, Madden 07 and Fight Night Round 3 and (4) others, Need for Speed Carbon, Burnout Revenge, Need for Speed Most Wanted (since I liked Carbon so much) and The Godfather.

The list of games that I have now completed, either beat the game or got all of the achievements are: COD 2, Gears of War, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, NBA 2K6, PGR 3 and Need for Speed Carbon.

Status: I am currently still playing NFSC online and need a couple of Free Roam achievements that have proved to be elusive thusfar. I want to go back and get the PGR 3 Gotham TV feature race achivement. I am still in progress with an undefeated (so far), 2nd Steelers franchise season where I have a few of the single game achievements to go. I still have yet to play GeoW on Live for whatever reason?

Next new game: King Kong. I just recently wanted this game after passing on it for so long but found it hard to get. It became my mission to get this game as I could not find it anywhere locally except for EB which my wife ended up finding for me, I owe her one for that...I checked on BestBuy.com (unavailable), all local BB stores, Circuit City, KMart, Sears, Toys R Us and Walmart, not a single copy to be found. I am glad as she ended up getting it new @ EB for $19.99. :)

So here is my new current game playing order (subject to change):
  1. Need for Speed Carbon (Done; Live; 370 A)
  2. Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie (UO)
  3. Halo 2 (Campaign)
  4. Madden NFL 07 (Franchise season #2; 80 A)
  5. The Godfather (UO)
  6. Burnout Revenge (UO)
  7. Need for Speed Most Wanted (UO)
  8. Gears of War (Done; Hardcore/Multiplayer next; 210 A)
  9. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Done; Live; 210 A)
  10. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent (UO)
  11. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (UO)
  12. Oblivion(UO)
  13. Fight Night Round 3 (UO)
  14. Call of Duty 3 (UO)
  15. Ridge Racer 6 (UO)
  16. NBA 2K6 (Season 1 - Heat; 100 % 1000 A)
  17. Project Gotham Racing 3 (Done; 445 A)
  18. Call of Duty 2 (Done; MP; 200 A)
  19. Sneak King (UO)
  20. Pocketbike Racer (UO)
  21. Big Bumpin' (UO)
  22. Hexic HD (5 A)

Merry Christmas!!!

Here are the new games that I have acquired around Christmas-time from Best Buy:
Need for Speed Carbon
Burnout Revenge
Halo 2
Ridge Racer 6
I have also pre-ordered, Forza Motorsport 2 which is supposed to be the racing game to get. As you can see I have mostly opted to purchase racing games and that is because I also got the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel. I decided to get this instead of the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player since I already have a number of DVD players and one which already upconverts my existing DVD collection. Plus it is more geared to gaming which I am into right now, obviously.
I also blew past 1000 Achievement pts and am now over 2000! What helped was being off of work over the Holiday week for a total of 11 days straight. Currently I have 2150 Achievement pts and NFSC has slowed me down to a crawl as it is tough to get any pts right away. I was close last night as I had a police chase over 12 mins. but they caught me when they put down the nail strip. Unlike some people, I love this game but I haven't played the NFS: Most Wanted yet though. I am currently 40% done with the Career mode. The Drifts and Boss Challenges are by far the most difficult and the game itself plays fast esp. when you turn on the Nitro and punch it...
So here is my new current game playing order (subject to change):
  1. Need for Speed Carbon (Career)
  2. Halo 2 (Campaign)
  3. Madden NFL 07 (Franchise season #2; 8/45)
  4. Burnout Revenge (UO)
  5. Gears of War (Done; Hardcore/Multiplayer next; 14/49)
  6. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Done; MP next)
  7. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent (UO)
  8. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (UO)
  9. Oblivion(UO)
  10. Fight Night Round 3 (UO)
  11. Call of Duty 3 (UO)
  12. Ridge Racer 6 (UO)
  13. NBA 2K6 (Season 1 - Heat; 100 % Achievements)
  14. Project Gotham Racing 3 (Done; 13/25 Achievements)
  15. Call of Duty 2 (Done; MP)
  16. Sneak King (UO)
  17. Pocketbike Racer (UO)
  18. Big Bumpin' (UO)

Gears of War - Done!!!

I finally made the time to finish this game. I had started out on Hardcore on Act I then I got stuck on 1 section and got through it on Casual then switched back to Hardcore defeating the Berserker to get the My Love for You Is Like a Truck Achievement (30). I went all the way through Act II on Hardcore then got stuck on Act III and then stayed with Casual the rest of the way...General RAAM took some time at the end but not too much. I found the best way to defeat him was to just sit back behind the lighted barrier in the back and wait for him to come closer and shoot only when the Krull moved away from his head. I only tried to take headshots and since I didn't have the Longshot on me I just did it all with the Lancer. Just kept shooting and finally the screen switched over to the cut-away scene and then the run-away train scene to end it.

For me this game was just right. It was plenty hard in spots such as the end of Acts esp. Act I (Berserker), Act III (Corpser) and Act V (General RAAM). I found Act III to be the most difficult and time consuming esp. the beginning with the Glow-In-The-Dark Wretches that exploded. This alone made me switch to back to Casual difficulty as I just couldn't make it past them on Hardcore.

Minor complaints I have are that some checkpoints are much tougher to get through then others and the most frustrating ones are the ones at the beginning where you have to watch the whole cutaway scene each time you load the last checkpoint. ie. the General RAAM one at the end.

Complaints aside, this game is the best looking game out there, bar none. The gameplay is great also esp. the cover mechanism which is the best example that I have seen incl. GRAW. The reload mechanism is also great and with a little practice not too hard to master. The weapons are all first-rate esp. the Lancer and its Chainsaw bayonet, by far the best weapon ever! Other favorites of mine are the Longshot with its great zoom scope equipped for headshots. The Torque Bow is also a great weapon which is especially useful in Act V. The grenades are great and do their fare share of damage but are tough to line up good shots with sometimes but the aiming mechaism is state of the art and looks great.

I am looking forward to playing this on Live in the near future and would esp. like to join someone in playing this in Co-op mode which sounds like fun. There are a number of achievements still left and I also want to go back and try to complete Acts I, III, IV & V on Hardcore at least. I would also like to give Insane a shot but I am not too hopeful to complete an entire Act on this setting.

While obviously this game is not perfect, I cannot see where you can take away any marks from it either. The graphics and sound are top-notch as is the gameplay and from what I hear the multiplayer is even better. I will recommend this game to anyone looking to purchase a 360 title and if I had to only pick one game to own, this one would probably be it. With that said, I will state that this game is the 360's finest that I have played!

So here is my current game playing order (subject to change):
  1. Gears of War(Done - Hardcore/Multiplayer next)
  2. Project Gotham Racing 3(Easy Circuit)
  3. Madden NFL 07(Franchise season #2)
  4. NBA 2K6(Practicing)
  5. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas(UO)
  6. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent(UO)
  7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter(UO)
  8. Oblivion(UO)
  9. Fight Night Round 3(UO)
  10. Call of Duty 3(UO)
  11. Call of Duty 2(MP)
  12. Sneak King(UO)
  13. Pocketbike Racer(UO)
  14. Big Bumpin'(UO)

Current 360 Status...

I have been so busy with work, Thanksgiving and my Birthday on Nov. 27th that it has been a while since I blogged...here is my attempt to get caught up with my current Xbox 360 status.

I acquired a few more games including the much anticipated Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas which I exchanged for NHL 2K7 @ ToysRUs which I had bought and left unopened when they had a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale back in early Nov. Next up was Project Gotham Racing 3 which I bought @ BestBuy for only $19.99 when it was on sale mid Nov. For my B-day my brother-in-law got me NBA 2K6 from Sam's Club. Also, I went out on (3) separate occasions to Burger King to get Sneak King, Pocketbike Racer & Big Bumpin'.I am in no hurry to play them, I just wanted to get my hands on them while supplies lasted.

I am up to just under 400 Achievement pts @ 390. It has been a slow go since I watch too many TV shows and movies as well, so it is hard to get it all in and make time for my console. My plan is to catch up around Christmas as I am off from 12/23 until 1/2. I would like to complete GeoW on Casual before then if I can, so that I can open some new games...I also want to get through PGR3 which I am going through pretty good on the Easy setting. I have tried the next highest setting and am just not good enough to win at it quite yet. I do love the driving game a lot more than I would have thought and can finally see why everyone else raves about it. I also opened NBA 2K6 which is fun to play but the booklet and menus aren't real descriptive on what modes are available, like for a franchise, etc. I also need to finally finish a season on Madden NFL 07 as my favorite sports team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So here is my current game playing order (subject to change):
  1. Gears of War(Act IV - Casual)
  2. Project Gotham Racing 3(Easy Circuit)
  3. Madden NFL 07(Franchise season #1)
  4. NBA 2K6(Practicing)
  5. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas(UO)
  6. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent(UO)
  7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter(UO)
  8. Oblivion(UO)
  9. Fight Night Round 3(UO)
  10. Call of Duty 3(UO)
  11. Call of Duty 2(MP)
  12. Sneak King(UO)
  13. Pocketbike Racer(UO)
  14. Big Bumpin'(UO)

Call of Duty 2: Mission Accomplished!

While I finally finished Call of Duty 2 on Tues. 11/14. The ending went faster than expected since the rest of the campaigns took a little bit longer but the last mission and American campaign went pretty quick. All in all this is a great game which I will highly recommend to anyone who has even the slightest interest in FPS and even those who don't.

I would have to rate this as the best FPS that I have played to date. Granted I just bought the next installment, Call of Duty 3.

The best game that I have played to date is Gears of War, which has received both its share of praise and critism, as could be expected of a release 18 mos. in the making. This is the game that is up next for me. I am currently playing on hardcore difficulty on Act II having passed Act I on the default level after getting jobbed having switched to the default level in the middle and then switching back to hardcore which I completed the act with and beat the Berserker and gained the "My Love For You Is Like a Truck" Achievement pts. The title is from the film, Clerks, an all-time classic by Kevin Smith.

So here is my current game playing order (subject to change):
  1. Gears of War
  2. Madden NFL 07(Franchise season #1)
  3. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent
  4. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
  5. Oblivion
  6. Fight Night Round 3
  7. Call of Duty 3
