no comments...:(amtentori

Begging makes you look weak, anyway its SW and you're pretty much right so nobody much is gonna comment. Wiiware needs to be good and they need to add HDD support, my 2 cents. Oh and don't pat yourself on the back in the OP either, also makes you look lame.

I don't care about the WiiLonelynight

This is a classic example of someone desperate for attention. Fear not, I will take this trolls bite for the sake of all and ask the rest of you not to feed him!

Now, onto the discussion at hand.

Shovelware has sold since the beginning of time and the wii is no different, sure they have added an additional segment, but the fact remains that core games are selling about as well as they always have (at least with respect to the usual casual games) yes the 'blue ocean' market is having their say, but they are new. The wii play crowd wasn't there before and they are now so its somehting we, as gamers, will have to get used to.

The point is the core:casual ratio is in balance, the core+casual:non-gamer is developing as the Wii grows.

The number of nursing homes and (from personal experience) people that simple don't give a flying hoot about gaming now puttin money into the gaming market is astounding, to me least. I think the 360 and PS3 are great consoles in their own right.

Good Topic OP.

Of the GS reviewers, which reviewers do you find the most 'credible' i.e. who's opinion do you find is in line with your about games. Not necessarily after you have played them but more from reading the review, for example there are some things that a reviewer may complain about that you never do etc.

For me its Alex and Greg when he was still here.

Ever notice that some games are really difficult to find a year after they are released? Take meteos or bomberman land touch (2 games I was searching for tonight to get as gifts).

Whats up with that? Do they say "were gonna sell 200K" make 200k and then call it off? I remember when there was news of Phoenix Wright getting and extra shipment due to demand but how would they know if there is demand without items on shelves. I know Nintendo published DS games seem to have true longevity but is it because they sell really well week in week out or is it more about their constant supply, maybe with a bump in sales each holiday.

Did Jeff just say part of the reason R&C scored 7.5 because it wouldn't appeal past the usual fanbase?

NEWSFLASH: People don't make Adventure games to appeal to non-adventure game fans.

That would just be stupid, thats like trying to make Wii sports appeal to the hardcore demographic, then it would just be all over the map and no one would like it. If you guys didn't like the game and thats why you scored it rubbish most people can understand that. Coming with lame excuses like this just make the already inconsistent reviews seem even more worthless.

Im not liking where this is going.

Intel bought ought some engineers from video card companies and fairly recently (less than a month ago) announced they will be entering the discrete graphics card market, selling performance video cards at $300 or less. Them buying Havok, as a CPU company with plans to be a video card company, doesnt seem to show any good signs for the consumer in regards to choices.

Maybe im jumping the gun, and i hope this turns out for the better as Intel has been less.... arrogant... as of lately, but signs seem to be pointing that Intel really, really wants a be a monopoly (again).

Pro_wrestler

Can you really put the blame soley on Intel for their sort-of arrogance? AMD/ATI seems to be slacking off in recent history, It took them 8 months to release a next-gen GPU and even after almost a year of quad-cores being on the market, AMD still doesn't have one that can be bought by consumers. This sounds like good news because I like the way AMD/ATI are a family of components were you don't have to worry to much about compatibility issues. Seems like Intel are set to follow suit.

Actually, AMD maybe struggling financially because of the aquisition and pricing but they have been increasing market share all around. Intel has not moved back closer to a monopoly despite holding the performance crown.

Think Wii vs 360, we all know which one packs the most punch but which one is increasing market share everyday?

Its a pretty widely known fact that the R600 (2900XT) chip is a computational beast, just check out the Folding@home figures for R600 vs CPUs. AMD bought ATI and now Intel is gathing the know how to put the multi threaded General Purpose GPU (GPGPU) tech into CPUs.

So rather than just shoving more and more cores onto a die they can put more into the very cores they put onto a die. This is good for Computing in general and will end up being great for gaming. This should ensure the PC continues to get its performance boosts and when the N6, PS4 and Xbox3 drop they will benefit from the tech.

Whoa, the Wii's numbers are gettin really low over there but the DSL is below 80K...will be interesting to see how thigns turn out.

Nintendo can't keep routing units to the states, the 400k repeat in the NDP shows they are still shifting units but Mario and Brawl are on their way, do they keep shifting units to the US or are they saving up for holidays/mario & brawl release?
