That One Tekken Player...

So I have been playing a lot of Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Being a Tekken player since Tekken 2, I can't help but look in disbelief. The game has changed so much over time.

One of my biggest gripes with Tekken as a whole is it isn't consistent. They way you play varies, sometimes a little too much, with each game. Despite this, my sister brought up a great point about the franchise.

They never look back when it comes to gameplay. From Tekken to Tekken 2 they increased game speed and added 10-hit combos. In Tekken 3, it was the first 3D game in the series. Tekken 4 they added walls/boundaries. Tekken 5 was a physics overhaul for the most part. Tekken 6 introduced 'bound'. Now you have Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Ah, I see.

Though this could've been a ploy to simply shut me up so she could finish kicking my butt with Slim Bob, it did put things in perspective and I now have a better appreciation for their innovations with each game. It isn't that hard to get used to any of the new-ways-to-play, I just needed to stop whining and adapt. Or I could just not play at all.

But all of this positive thought changes when I see my father try to adapt to the new bound system. Every single time we play a post-Tekken 5 Tekken game, I hear the same things over and over.

This bound! It's stupid! Why did they ruin the game? What the heck?!

Rage?! Look, if your getting beat you just need to take it. All that rage is cheap.

Man, I think I'm just going to stop playing Tekken. It's just too gimmicky.

And then after I or my sister(s) beat him;

Man, this game has changed. Forreal.

Then he'll go switch on the ol' PlayStation 2 and play Tekken 5, exclaiming that that game and all subsequent in the series are the real Tekken(s).

Now before you say he needs to take his senior-citizen behind somewhere with all that griping, he is an O(riginal)G(angsta) arcade fighter. He prides himself on the several times he has been locked in the arcade playing Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs. Capcom, or any other fighter you can think of. His Street Fighter and MvC2 skills are impecable. So, yes, he is a fighting game wizard but it is hard to see someone who taught the game to you get frustrated like this.

So this will be the first Tekken where I don't rely on my fathers knowledge of the game to get better. I now use YouTube and other peoples stupid strategy guides where they take the game entirely too seriously, therefore making the game seem more like a chore than recreational entertainment.

But I digress, I have to do what I have to do. If you feel you can help me becoume tournament-ready, shoot me your PSN. I'd appreciate it.

The Introduction...

Admittedly, I was thinking of some kind of witty and interesting way to introduce myself to the GameSpot blogging scene. After days of tossing ideas in my head and getting over some of my own nervousness ("what if nobody reads it? Then it'll look like some pathetic gamer just ranting for no reason..."), I decided just to try a simple introduction.

Well, I'm MarchingOrd3rZ. I like playing video games. As far as genre, I'm pretty open to all though I am partial to fighting games. I don't believe anyone should have to pay to play with their friends on-line, which is one of the reasons I stick to PC and PlayStation 3 gaming.

I don't plan on ever buying another Nintendo console until they can prove some longevity with their consoles. Call me spoiled, but the PlayStation 2 has enjoyed nearly 12 years of support with six years of simultaneous support alongside the PlayStation 3. No, I'm not a fan-boy. I am just a gamer that likes good quality things that work. I think those are some simple criteria to meet.

However, I do own a Nintendo Wii. I do play it a good deal, especially Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. If anyone wants to challenge me in any of those, bring it on! I love a good challenge. Inbox me your Wii Friend Code.

Besides gaming I am a HUGE sports fan, which is ironic because I don't play any sports games. (I may dabble in a little NBA 2K13 though...). I love music. I'm open to any suggestions you may have concerning artist I should give a listen to, as long as it is not country music. No, I'm not budging on my dislike for country music.

I am a budding programmer, currently learning C++ and C#. Eventually I would like to learn Java and Javascript. I am a Linux (Lubuntu and Xubuntu) user, though I do own a Windows laptop (Alienware. Yes sir...). I like Apple products. I am a huge beef eater. I love exercising.

I think that's pretty much it.

My blog is going to be pretty much all about games, anywhere from gaming hardware to gaming software. I'll probably do some game reviews. I may come in with a music album review or two, depending on how un-lazy I'm feeling on that particular day.

I'll update three times a week.

I will try to find a way to get a link to other gaming communities I'm in such as Desura, Steam, and Windows Live. Keep an eye out if you're interested.
