Birthday Games!

Ok so my birthday was over a month ago (June 7) but I'm on dial up at home and just don't think to post!
Went to the mall to pick out my birthday presents, saw 3 games in the first store we went to but I wasn't sure that's what I wanted so I went through the whole mall looking at clothes and whatnot... and came back to buy the 3 games.
I ended up with Dragon Quest VIII, Suikoden V, and Radiata Stories. And I even forgot that Dragon Quest came with a demo for FFXII so I was plesantly surprised when the guy at Funcoland switched the game box he was going to give me because it didn't have the demo.
I first played through Radiata Stories because it seemed the most original and the one I was most interested in. I went through completely on the human (and what many consider to be the bad) side, then completed the post game dungeons (some twice), then started it back up from the beginning to beat it on the fairy side. Needless to say it was a lot of Radiata for a while. Got me a little wound up near the end too... really sorry about that sweetie.
Then I went through on Suikoden V. I read there were 4 main endings and multiple ones that finish the story prematurely. At first I was going to go through on my own and see how many characters I could recruit all on my own... but I didn't want to have to play through so many times so I ended up gettin a little help to make sure I only recruited those I had to... and a couple characters I had previously picked out that I wanted (namely Norma and Ernst... what can I say? I'm a cat person!). Let me tell you it was NOT easy! The war battles were the hardest because at points I couldn't even make full groups because I just didn't have enough people. I finally did finish and most of my deaths actually came from the final boss fight until I found out that Ernst can unbalance all the final boss monsters which gave me about 8 turns with the boss not being able to hit me! I was debating on playing again for the next ending, with 61-107 people, but didn't want the same thing that happened with Radiata to happen again, so now I'm on to Dragon Quest VIII!
I just got the boat and am getting along pretty well, kinda mad that Jessica gets all these different outfits depending on what she equips while I just gotta stare at the same hero. I'm not saying I want the hero to be in a speedo or anything, just if she gets to change it up so should everyone else! I know he has like 1 other outfit, but lets be fair and equal people! If Jessica gets a bunny outfit then James (the hero... named after my boyfriend  ) should have... like a cat outfit... or a tiger... or... or... SOMETHING! Jessica gets a dance outfit then so can James, or if he isn't into dance then give him... a football uniform or something! I'm not saying they have to be all showing like Jessica's are, just... give the guys some dress up too! Ok I've ranted enough for one night!

Shadow Hearts

I beat Shadow Hearts today!  Well technically I beat it with the bad ending last night and the good ending today.  And I take back the Alice and Yuri thing, I guess they have a good thing going on hehe.  Had to do some side quests to really see it.  And I'll admit, on the bad ending my eyes got a little wet, but no tears fell!  I'm not that girly... most of the time.  I also jumped right into Shadow Hearts: Covenant today.  I'm not big on graphics, I mean I play games for the stories and the characters, but it is nice to see some better graphics compared to the first Shadow Hearts.  The CGI ooo, soooooo pretty makes my eyes bleed... ok not really, but its really good.

So YAY for beating a game, seeing both endings, and right away starting up a sequel.  If it wasn't almost 3 am here I'd probably boot it up right now and keep going but... the Judgement Ring and sleepy eyes don't go so well together, trust me I've tried.

Off to dream girly dreams of love and sacrifice. Nighty night all!

Been distracted...

Man has it been a while since I wrote on here (as if anyone really cares anyway... well except one person ;)) but I guess it's time for an update because... I'm online and feel like it?

So much gaming and I'm SOOOO happy about it! Thanks to a certain someone (same person who reads these posts) I got to play my most favorite game, and my first one that I ever beat, drum roll please.... *drrrrrrrrrrr* CHRONO TRIGGER! And it's all thanks to gamespot inducting it into the game hall of fame, and I say it's about time! ...not that I knew there was a game hall of fame, but now that I do it should have been in there a LOOONNGG time ago.  I played it, still love it, beat it, and will eventually get all the different endings for it (already got 2 depending on how you get to the final boss).

Then I got back FFX2, my loving boyfriend got it all fixed up for me (stupid scratch made me freeze up at the same point and I couldn't play it for about 3 years, and I was at 99% on my third play through... 99%... 3 playthroughs... and I couldn't finish!).  Well I played through from the beginning again, following a walkthrough (got tired of not figuring out what I missed) and finally got the "good" ending.  Was it worth it?   ...meh.  I'm not saying it wasn't good, I wasn't really expecting much so I got more than I thought I would, but it wasn't all about the good ending... well it started out being all about the good ending but then it turned into just getting 100%... seeing that beautiful 3 digit number on all my saves.  I got it in the 5th and final chapter, still don't know what exactly I missed because techinically you can get more than 100% though it doesn't show if you play through twice (big plot point with a decision that changes the rest of the game so choose different the second time) but it feels SOOO good to finally get that done.  I didn't do all the little side dungeons in the end because I just wanted to finish so I could start up...

SHADOW HEARTS! I loved the second one, so funny but serious and good... everything!  So I HAD to play the first one so I could get all the little inside jokes and see if I changed my mind about the "good" ending actually being the better one.  I didn't like the ending because the hero is stuck on the girl from the first game (one I never got to know because I started on the second) and there was one in the second game that loved him and she wouldn't do anything about it and he didn't notice?  I'm trying to remember back and I have a HORRRIBLE memory which is why once I finish the first one I'll go right into the second... and then maybe the third?  So far I don't see all that much going on between the hero and the girl and I'm almost at the end... yea she said she loved him, but not to him, and it's almost over! How are they supposed to have this HUGE love that Yuri can't get over if it's not shown that much and the game is almost over? Ok ok, enough girly love talk, thats not me... most of the time :)  The game is pretty good, I probably would have liked it better if I had played it before the second one because the second one is better, but hey! I gotta know all that goes on in this Shadow Hearts universe.

The Chrono Trigger and the beginning of FFX2 was all during college and *shudder* finals, but I got 4 A's (ok ok 1 is an A- but it's history and thats just not my thing, but an A in Organic Chemistry?! I deserve a cookie for that!) and 1 B (Oraganic Chemistry lab... yea that class wasn't easy).  Now it's some job searching so I can fund my ever growing video game library, as well as maybe a few clothes, my wardrobe is still mainly stuff from high school and I'll be going into my third year of college!  I gotta replace all those that have gotten too worn or "shrunk" over the years.

WHEW! LOOOONG UPDATE but I'm all worn out now so buh bye!

Gaming?

So I'm still complaining about not gaming, but I can't really anymore.  Thanks to my younger step brother I got to play some games, though not ones I would pick out to play.  Yu-Gi-Oh and Thundertanks... Soul Calibur II was nice, especially when we found out some of Yoshimitsu's crazy moves... we still think he sucks as a character but his attacks make me crack up! :D

Then I went and saw my dad, hijacked his OPM's for the past 3 months to catch myself up on all things Playstation, then I popped in the 3 demo discs, not all at the same time of course! Can't put in more than 2 discs in a Playstation at a time (don't ask!).  Found myself cursing the stupid timed demos... well, not cursing, if you know me you know I don't curse much, but I was sputtering!  The three demos I kept trying to get farther in before being kicked out was Okami, Shadow Hearts: New World, and... and... *mind goes blank*... ummm, right, anyways.

Okami is beautiful! When my dad played it he barely got into it because he kept stopping to look at the art.  The only bad thing I can say about the game is that sometimes I wasn't sure what to do next, had to explore the town to see who I could help with my awesome brush skills!  Ok, they're not awesome, they really suck, my circles and line cuts don't always accomplish what I want because I don't draw so well :)

Shadow Hearts was exactly what I expected it to be, and I can't wait to play it... though who knows when that will be!  And of course now I'm hearing more and more about Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts II, but I'll probably be lazy and cheap and wait for price drops on all my games before I buy.

And today, I had a half hour to kill, so I put in... Mad Maestro.  Why Mad Maestro? I have no idea, but I got through 2 concerts and am that much closer to unlocking... whatever it is I'll unlock when i finish all 15 of them.

So I guess I'm sloooowly getting back to my games, can't wait to fire up an RPG!

UPDATE: I remembered that other game (finally!).  It was Drakengard 2... the flying was difficult, fighting 360 degrees ain't easy! (I can use ain't, I'm from Maryland!) and the ground battles were a little too easy, the bad guys just stand around for the most part... but dragons and fighting... I'm sure I'll get this game eventually!

Wowzers

Right... so I have been off video games for WAY too long.  *mumbles* stupid college, keeping me from saving the world in various ways.

Anyways, hopefully over spring break I'll finally be able to get back to them.  I don't even know the good new games.  Man, I hate being away from the video game world for so long.
